CHAPTER 4 :
Gadchiroli :
Virat was happy to see his mentor Inspector Kamal Joshi standing in front of him saluting him. He wanted to go and take his blessings but here today he was his senior so he unfortunately couldn't go to him.
"Jai Hind sir!" Kamal Joshi greeted him as Virat came back from his reverie. He nodded to his greet with as stern as he could be and then went to him
"Inspector Kamal Joshi," Virat spoke as he went near him.
"Yes sir!"
"Please show me my quarters. I need to go and freshen up." Virat requested him to show his quarters as he knew his Aai was tired of the journey and he himself had to freshen up. The tyre of the car punctured while coming, and they have to stop for one hour to get it done. He had been really late to join his duty so he came directly to the police station to report. "My Aai is standing outside, it would be really great if you show her the quarters ." He requested as he went inside the cabin to have a look.
Kamal Joshi immediately called a lady constable and told her to fetch Virat's Aai from outside and bring her inside the police station and make her sit. He then hurriedly went to see if the arrangements were made correctly or not.
Outside the police station:
Ashwini was standing near the entrance waiting for Virat to complete his formalities. She was tired because of the journey but was happy seeing her son living his dream. His dream of serving the country. While noticing the atmosphere, she was called by a lady constable who came to fetch her inside the police station.
Ashwini wondered as she went inside the police station. As soon as she entered she saw her son talking with his fellow police officers about something. Her heart swelled in pride, she became emotional watching that. She thanked the Lord for such a moment in her life.
Virat walked up to his mother who was standing at a corner with a teary eyed. He tapped on her shoulder as he went to her. Ashwini came out of her reverie as she saw her son standing in front of him..
"What happened?" Virat asked his mother who was on the verge of tears.
"Nothing Godu. Just feeling proud of my son " Ashwini answered touching Virat's cheeks while her eyes glistened with tears.
Virat while wiping her mother's tears spoke, "Aai... there'll be many proud moments in your life from now on..Hmm..so save those tears for that moment. Accha, Let me take you to meet Kamal sir " as he took her to meet Kamal Joshi.
Kamal Joshi came outside to take Virat to his quarters. As he found Virat with his mother, he stopped on his track as he wanted to give the mother son duo time. He remembered his daughter and chuckled a bit remembering her.
Virat turned around to find Kamal Joshi laughing at something, he furrowed his brows and tapped on his shoulder. As he tapped, Kamal Joshi jerked out of his thoughts and told Virat to accompany him to the quarters.
Virat dropped the idea of conversing Ashwini with Kamal sir as he thought he would do well in the quarters.
Kamal Joshi accompanied Virat to the quarters and as soon as he was inside with them, he could feel someone touching his feets.
Bowing his head down, his eyes moistened as he saw his favourite student, now his senior was taking blessings of her.
Embarrassed a little bit, Kamal Joshi tried to stop Virat from doing that.
"Virat Beta! It's okay!! You're now my senior and it doesn't look good " Kamal Joshi fondly tried to stop Virat.
"Sir, only because of you I'm here today. It's because of your teaching and mentoring, I could be a successful cadet and a well trained IPS officer. Please don't stop me." Virat pleaded as he again bowed to take his blessings.
"Be successful as always." Kamal Joshi adoringly blessed his student and senior with a huge smile.
As Virat got up, he went towards the door to bring Ashwini in their new quarters.
"By the way Kamal sir, she's my mom Ashwini Chavan." Virat proudly introduced Ashwini to his mentor.
"And Aai he's Kamal sir, Inspector Kamal Joshi." As he was introducing him to his mother, he felt so blessed to have them in his life. He was in tears seeing the sight in front of him, his mother interacting with his Guru, who's almost at his father's place.
"Virat Beta, please go and get ready for your duty. I instruct the cook to make something for you and Ashwiniji." Kamal said to Virat as he went to call the cook.
"I wish I could call you for dinner in my house, but since my daughter isn't in the village, I couldn't ." Kamal softly stated that.
"Arre Kamal ji, it's okay. There's no such hurry and formality. It's okay." Ashwini stood up from the sofa she was sitting on and tried to make the situation better. " By the way, your daughter?" Ashwini enquired.
"Yes, my daughter Sai Joshi. She's studying MBBS in Nagpur Medical College. 3rd year." Kamal Joshi proudly answered.
Virat heard from the other room and just uttered "Sai..what a beautiful name.." .
15 days passed,
In those days as Virat reported to his duty, Kamal Joshi had accompanied him to almost all the places of Gadchiroli informing about all the areas, about the crimes happening in those areas along with the criminals of those areas. Kamal forgot to tell him about Jagtap Mane as Jagtap was silent for somedays and the matter slipped outside of his mind. .
While inspecting all the areas with Kamal Joshi, suddenly Virat noticed a man sitting on a jeep in a disrespectful position. His gang members were also present at that place blocking the road.
"Who are you? Move from here." Virat almost roared seeing them.
"Ayye you're the new ACP na. ACP Virat Chavan!! Myself Jagtap Mane, son of Vitthal Mane...uhh...uhh.. MLA Vitthal Mane.." Jagtap introduced himself to Virat as he played with his golden chain round his neck. His index finger swayed the chain as he jumped from the bonnet of the jeep to meet Virat.
"You can be anyone's son. But please leave this road, I have to go somewhere, let me." Virat coldly replied to Jagtap as he beat the car's bonnet with his stick, "Remove the car" . Virat ordered the driver to park the car at any other place.
"Ayye ACP... don't be a fool, you don't know who I'm! Don't be a fool!" Jagtap warned him again and again as Virat wasn't even hearing him and went away without thinking anything.
"That's not a good move ACP! You may pay in future." Jagtap warned more as he saw Virat again yelling at his driver to remove the car from his path.
As the driver ignited the engine, steered the wheels, and moved the car away, Virat went and sat inside the jeep calling Kamal Joshi.
"Kamal sir! You told me you're going to Nagpur, please come with me as I have to head towards Nagpur due to some work." He requested Kamal sir to go with him to Nagpur.
"Okay Virat sir." Kamal Joshi replied as he went towards the jeep, sat inside as they left for Nagpur.
Jagtap who saw all the happening, was dumbstruck as the new ACP of the place didn't even give any attention to him and went away nonchalantly.
"Ayee, Pakiya.. Collect information about this ACP and try to observe his.." Jagtap ordered his man as he went away wondering about that ACP.
Nagpur :
Sai was waiting outside her college campus for a long time waiting for her father who had promised that he would come to take her . Her exams for that semester had been finished finally and her end semester break started. So she has to leave the hostel for one month. With all her luggage kept at the security post, she was waiting for her father to pick her up.
"Offo.. when will Aaba come?" She whined and started walking slowly around the medical college waiting for her father.
Suddenly she could hear a beep noise and she could understand her father came.
"Aaba.." She squealed in happiness as she ran away towards the police jeep from where the beep was coming.
"Aaba you finally came.." Sai excitedly said to her father through the car window as he peered out first to meet him.
"Haa Sai Bada. I kept my promise.." Kamal uttered proudly, raising a bit of his collar. Sai was elated to see her father happy and giggled a bit.
"Kamal sir...how much…time.." Virat's voice broke the small reunion of father and daughter as Kamal hurriedly started to introduce Sai and Virat..
"Sai Bada... look, this is our ACP of the village.." As soon as Kamal started his introduction, Sai peeped inside the window to see the man sitting there..And Virat also bent towards Kamal sir to ask something that time. Both of their eyes fell on each other and both of them bursted together, uttering only one word "You!!"
