Of course what I say was based on my hunch. I never proclaimed it as a fact.

There is a whole chapter on Prophet Lot in Quran regarding that where God terminated a whole village because the people were involved in same sex..what you pointed about gay imams and ppl openly practicing homosexuality are actually seen as deviants in the Muslim community... YQ is also seen as a deviant and most traditional scholars have warned the muslim community to not listen to him.. Point is that the mainly it's considered blasphemous but there are people who are trying to change this especially western islamic speakers who are even giving alternate meaning of verses in the Quran...

Anyway that's not what my post meant.. I will try to give you an analogy.. Suppose I am a practicing Christian who is very much into Jesus and going to sunday mass, and takes her Bible very seriously.. Even if I like the same sex I will try to avoid it because of my fear of going to hell.. Yes I may still fall into it but the latter chances are less.. That's what I meant by Iqbal khan.. He seems to me the former type not the latter... (I maybe absolutely wrong but hope u got my jist)

I have a few other reasons for suspecting him. He is very close with females in gatherings ... I have seen him touching hugging his female costars, family members etc but I don't see that with his male friends. Generally gay man are closer to their female friends (as they are not attracted to females and can be friends with them easily). Of course these are all speculation, I never claimed them to be the truth. He called Ellen Degeneres the only person he can be a fan of, and claimed she had certain personalities he liked. Whatever, these are just my hunches. nothing more.

This wasnt india forums. It was a yahoo fanclub.. IF was very new and had few members....

Now we can never know what he is in his heart but let's hope he actually has a happy marriage

But why follow religious diktats which are absolutely illogical, baseless and discriminatory? Being gay cannot be a sin by any logic of the brain. Loving and being attracted to someone is not a sin. This rule was obviously made in the 8th century when there was no awareness or education about homosexuality. Why follow such draconian and outdated norms in the age of science and rationality?

^^ Don't really want to get into a religious argument so I am going to end my end here regarding that, because 1 - this topic isn't about religion, 2 - Bollywood forum isn't a place to discuss these. Wow YQ is seen as a deviant? That's news to me, he is pretty popular amongst my peers. Anyhow I am borderline atheist/agnostic so could care the least.

That was my point too. Mainstream interpretation consider it blasphemous but there are alternative views which are getting stronger. Christians (most of them) have come to accept it despite their religions being traditionally against it as well. I have seen a growing queer Muslim movement and it's getting stronger in western countries.

But I like I said Bollywood forum isn't ideally suited to this discussion, and I am borderline atheist/agnostic in my view so let's end this.

As for the IK thing, there was no need to get so serious (both of us). It was just a hunch on my part, with nothing concrete. I wasn't claiming it to be fact. Also unlike the Bollywood celebs, where we do have some evidence, there is no evidence on IK so like I said it was just a vibe I got. I wasn't seriously claiming it to be true.

A lot of people would definitely agree with you and hence do not follow Quran and have even left the faith and many still do not agree and stick to their faith.. Ultimately it's a human choice right? What is important is that just because I believ it's a sin that doesn't mean i will threaten some one who is a homosexual.. That is problematic...

Morality will always be subjective when it is by humans and changing times..

Today incest and paedophilia is a taboo...are you aware there are lobbies who want to decriminalize incest n paedophilia as well and their logic is the same.. Love is love...wait 20 years our children will fight for incest and pd rights the same way we do for LGBTQ

Society is all about accepting right..?. Then it should go the other way as well... Why should people who are sticking to their faith and not forcing their opinion be made to think otherwise.... I see this as hypocrisy from the liberals....

Mahisa, I was raised in a religious household and have given up on my beliefs due to this very reason. But if someone is religious for whatever reason, that's their prerogative and right. We cannot infringe upon it just as they cannot infringe upon ours. And regardless of what actual religions may say, I do know queer Muslims as well as queer religious people, so it's not entirely impossible to intertwine them (even if it's not religiously valid, demographically there are queer religious people). Also let's not get into the petty issue of discussing religion here as a) it will lead to unnecessary fights, b) BS section is not for that (though I started it).

Talking about LGBT is great and welcomed.. but speculating someone sexual orientation isn't.

Thread should be locked if that's what this thread is about.
