Waise ofcourse now that Adi has officially entered the "shak karna" zone, it will be hard to remember the 4+ weeks of incidents that led to this moment.....lol it wasn't easy.....Adi didn't immediately jump to thinking the worst....it was all still hurt and insecurity to some extent which was understandable given that Imlie walked out on him first and refused to return even after he pleaded with her many times.
I also think it was a watershed moment when he came to to ASR's house to again ask Imlie to come back with him and she pretty brutally refused him while also shouting/misbehaving with him.....that was a big blow to him (which ofcourse has all been forgotten by Imlie now as she acts like shaadi toh humesha normal chal rahi thi and yeh lapakne waali thi Babusahib ko waapis jab iska tantrum khatam ho jaata😆). But it's worth noting that moment cuz that was the first time she directly told him she prefers living in some random kal ka aaya banda's house rather than coming back home with him. Koi mild baat nahin thi woh, even if Imlie will now act like whatever main toh kiraaydaar thi bas😆
Iske baad bhi Adi and Imlie were going through their cycles of interacting as usual for work while trying to compartmentalize these issues....Adi still pleaded with her to come back even after that bollywood IV fiasco and she threw the difficulty speech in his face while yet again refusing him.....lol
Itne saare refusals ke baad bhi Adi ne us "shak" pe dwell nahin kiya - it was still more like offhand bakwaas to him and he still seemed to believe that Imlie wants to be with him agar yeh sab anniversary planning kar raha tha.....lol
But now, all these incidents have managed to come racing back in his memory through the catalyst of the divorce papers.....that has led him to believe ki all that he was seeing but then trying to dismiss all along must have been the truth only.....that Imlie doesn't want to be with him, she prefers the companionship of someone else now, isliye divorce papers bhi bhej diye.......cuz socha jaaye toh he's still not accusing Imlie of an EMA.....lol no, he's accusing her of choosing someone else....ismein marital, extra-marital ka angle toh aaya hi nahin vis a vis "character assassination".....he's not saying to Imlie ki how can you be with another man when you are married to me? He's saying to her ki how could you choose someone else and end our love/marriage like this? All his dialogues are about his devastation that Imlie doesn't love him anymore, that she considered their rishta a bandhan that she has been insisting on wanting to be freed of. And yeh sab far-fetched nahin for him to think given how she was talking to him ever since she left the house.....at every point she conveyed to him that she doesn't want to be around him.....toh it had to lead to him being like she must have meant it.....lol
I also think some element of self-loathing will enter Adi's mind sooner or later ki woh tha hi itna bura, that is why Imlie left him.....lol
