@blue - Thank you so much for bringing this point up...I literally had the exact same thoughts about this 🤗

I must confess like everyone else I also got a little giddy watching the entire scene ☺️but then the whole situation was set up like Sid was returning a favor to Mithai. Also what disturbed me was that Sid seemed to be very much aware of the power that he holds over Mithai and knew what a big deal this would be to her. But he himself did not seem to be affected the same way. Consent was a big issue here for sure

From the very beginning, there is a power imbalance shown between Sid and Mit in terms of their relationship...to the point where Mithai lost her confidence thinking she was not "Jogyo" for Siddharth and in extension for the Modak family. That is why she had to constantly prove herself as the perfect Bouma in order to be accepted.

2nd time around Mithai has become more confident but again it seems that she needs to be the perfect bouma and hold the family together in order to be accepted. In the premium episode for today, everyone keeps praising Mithai for bringing Sid back and cooking the special dish but nobody notices when she slips away quietly when Sid was feeding the cake to everyone else.

The way the makers are showing these lapses quite deliberately I feel/hope that they are setting up for future developments but what those developments are and when they will happen remains to be seen 😛

I thought I was being overly critical, but I'm so glad we all think alike in this matter😃

Another thing I found very hypocritical is Dadai saying (during Torsha's boron) "Ami amar kono boumar oshomman hotey ditey parina"

LOL! This selectively amnesiac, old coot (excuse me for saying so) seems to conveniently forget this when it is Mithai in question. They make her do the work of 5 domestic helps, at home, and that of a manager at SM and don't bother to take her opinion in matters relating to either. Giving her two hugs and using her lingo cannot compensate for the passive disrespect they show 24*7!

Putting aside the other problems, I must say the episode was rather brilliantly executed today. Choice of background music, camera angles, dialogues, etc. were really well done

And that hand kiss scene was well just chef's kiss ☺️☺️

Other than the physical act (and other issues) itself, Sid's naughty + slightly seductive look and Mithai's shy glances really captured the essence of the moment. Hats off to both Adrit and Soumi for the really fantastic chemistry

Also just out of curiosity what shows + cinema is Sid watching? And what is this "it" that he knows how to do? ☺️🤣

Forget feeding her a piece of the cake, she was not even present at the scene. And when did pishi recalled her presence? To give Sid food... Mane meye tar jeno r kono importance nei.

I was also irritated by Nanda telling Sandy to explicitly call down Tess for the continental cooking surprise. She wanted to show how great mithai is that she has leant a whole new dish to make Sid happy, in contrast to Tess who "aaj obdhi Som da ke ek cup cha baniyeo deye ni"

I do not like this villianization of Tess on the basis of her gharelu skills.

I liked the hand kiss moment. I agree with the power dynamic point. Sid seems to know mithai loves/likes him.

Remember he heard that conversation between mithai and gopal when he gifted her the medal on first night? So, he is aware of her feelings. Also, the way he taunted her about serial e ki hoye sob ami jani, it felt more like a game than genuine affection.

But because I am a sucker for romance, I didn't mind too much😆

Ahem now putting my inner Squealing fangirl aside 🤣

@bold - I would like to think this was deliberately put in the makers to convey the unacknowledged distance that still exists between Mit and Sid/rest of Modaks. One thing I have noticed is that makers of Mithai really do enjoy foreshadowing and leaving breadcrumbs to indicate future storylines. So maybe this hints at something that will hopefully be shown soon - who knows? 🤔

Whether these connotations are absorbed by the TRP audience or not is a whole different exercise in frustration entirely 😕

@blue - this stuck out to me as well for being the extremely regressive statement that it was. Like Mithai, Tess is also being judged against the invisible scale of Boumagiri - where making tea is apparently one of the key criteria in order to be acknowledged as the "perfect bouma of Modak parivaar"

On principle, I disagree with Tyas mostly, but there is that one statement she made when she was ordering Mithai to make coffee which was something like - she (Mit) makes tea for everyone to win their affection - that I, unfortunately, have to agree with.

@purple - I would like to say he teased more than taunted about the prurient fantasies in Mithai's (and our ☺️) imaginations. But yes one thing is very clear that he is well aware of Mithai's feelings and to a certain extent has learned her weak spots in regards to him.

For instance, he knows she cannot see him go hungry and has used that to break her anger a few episodes ago. Now I don't want to label him as manipulative (because that would indicate he has malicious intentions) but he has learned which buttons to push with Mithai for sure 😎

Dadai is one of the most problematic characters in the show for sure. In fact, I have even nicknamed him "Nayka buro" because he is at the root of 90% of existing problems in Monohara. 😡

Pre Songshar tyaag he was still tolerable but post that he is just an irritant 🤔

Very valid points and I agree with the sentiments totally

It was well executed but consent is a huge thing… ki hoto “may I” bolle

Also didn’t like no one noting mithai stepping away - I would have hoped that Sid would have missed her At least I wish they had shown him going after her and saying something as simple as “ki heppy to” or anything for that matter - jee to kor lo take cake khaolo na - key mone korlo na was hurtful

The hand kiss scene I felt like he was teasing mithai but not affected by any of it

It's such a great pleasure reading all these detailed reviews here on IF.. People here can openly write what they feel unlike IG where if you criticize a certain scene or a positive character for a certain behavior people will say - "dekhte bhalo na lagle dekhte hobena"

Apart from that IG is filled with only pics from the kiss scene.. Nothing was mentioned about Mithai missing during cake scene .. Even Mithai FDs are behaving like the Modaks..

This is actually a concerning problem because when these IG fandoms become too prominent, a whole host of issues start cropping up

Makers of the show also start catering to them

The personal lives of the actors are dissected, storylines get skewed and it becomes a mess.

Hope the Mithai team does not fall into the same trap

Watched the premium episode for today and will try not to spoil anything...but I must ask where are they going with this storyline?? 🤔

Also what the hell does "Mithai er moton meye" mean? I am sorry but after 300+ episodes they really need to move the narrative along.

Ekono sheyi Rajputra vs. peasant girl bapar ta ektu dhrishti kotu hoye jache

Just finished watching it and I must say, I am so very disappointed. Earlier atleast the disgregard they showed for Mithai was passive. Now it's out in the open. She is literally a bonded labour in that house. Sree was the only saving grace. Every other character, including Mithai was disappointing.

Also, like you mentioned, it was a chef's kiss. To lose oneself over that kiss, dropping pots, refraining from using that hand, is a bit too much in my opinion. But yes, this is completely Mithai's choice and I or anybody else should not have anything to say. But it hurts me to see a once very driven and ambitious girl, now going gaga over a gamified kiss, that too on the hand.

So true! Like I said earlier, 99% of the audience is only concerned with the end outcome, which in this case, was a kiss.

Even if, hypothetically, Sid had battered and bruised Mithai and then planted a kiss on her hand, most of the audience would be very happy about it. Nobody bothers about the intentions or emotions behind anything and that to me is very bothersome, because then the public continues to wallow in the filth of regressiveness, never wanting to come out, because its all too convenient to be happy about (what appears to most as) romance, not looking in to what happened before or after, or why whatever happened happened.
