Was Dimple the No.1 in the 80s? No. But she had a good run and was very popular in the first half of the 80s. There were several contenders for the throne at that time with no clear winner. Much as I appreciate Dimple, she was one among the many who chose to play bold roles after marriage. Sharmila Tagore and Sadhana comes to mind.

Nope. Dimple was very much active before 1985. There was a buzz about her comeback. Then there was her famous ad for Crowning Glory soap where she flaunted her lustrous hair. That was definitely before 1986. IMDB credits her comeback films as Zakhmi Sher and Manzil Manzil on 1984. Sri didn't ascend to her throne till the latter half of the 80s. In the early 80s she was just one among the aspirants.

Yes, Sharmila worked after motherhood, did glamorous roles wearing some tight or revealing outfits (So her daughter-in-law's claim that she's the first Indian actress (or Indian woman)ever to work after giving birth, a pioneer, is not true...

Dimple did a topless scene in her re-entry movie, Saagar... Don't know if it was cut in theatrical versions... It's a 'blink you'll miss it' scene

Her birth name was Ameena although she was never addressed by that name... According to Wikipedia her father
