*knock knock*

Grabbing his glasses from the bedside he rushed to answer the door...

“Anu?” wondering what she was doing there he frowned curiously.

“sorry mai...mai andar aa sakti hoon?” she asked excitedly and stepped in before he could say anything..

His heart started racing as he followed her into the room and waited for her to say something.

Looking around the room she tried to dodge his confused face and when she couldnt avoid him any longer she randomly said “accha hai room” and it made him chuckle...

“haan accha sajaya hai hotel walo ne” he said teasingly...and they both burst out laughing at their silly small talk...

She then turned around to face him “Anuj, mujhe aap se...aap se...aap se kuch baat karni thi” she stuttered and looked away nervously when she couldn't ignore his unbuttoned white shirt...

‘sorry’ he sheepishly clasped the top undone buttons and asked

“kya...kya baat karni hai?”

“balcony mein baithein?” she asked plucking the top sheet off the bed...and he folowed her to the breezy balcony of the high rise building...

Pushing the patio chairs aside he took his shoes off to sit on the other end of the sheet when she slyly cleaned the spot where she wanted him seated, right next to her...

That little gesture of hers spunked him up and gave him a sense of thrill to be spending the night under the stars with his favourite person by his side...

Resting the back of his head against the wall, he let the feeling sink in and smiled to himself thanking his lucky stars...

Glad to have him on board with her feelings, she pulled her feet close and inhaled the zesty air and gazed at the skyline...

There was an enchanting intimacy in the night, where they had lots to say and more to listen...where time played no part and emotions were profuse...

“Anuj..” she turned her head to face him and started the conversation they couldn't avoid any longer...

“hmm” knowing this could change a lot between them he braced himself.

“aap mujhse itna pyar kaise kar sakte hain” she asked with all her heart and paused to earn his reaction...”chabbis saal bohot hote hai Anuj, aise pyaar ka to maine sirf kahaniyo mein suna tha..”

He quietly stared at the empty wall and tried to absorb what she just said, knowing well that she didn't expect an answer to her question...

They let the silence linger on for a while, perhaps to gain perspective.

Mustering the right words to speak his long overdue feelings, he truthfully said “Anu... mujhe tumse pehli hi nazar mein pyar ho gaya tha, jab maine tumhe pehli baar aise hi ek pink suit mein dekha tha, jab tum sehmi hui college mein apni saheliyon se baatein kar rahi thi, uss din se leke aaj tak maine sirf tumhe chaha hai, aur hamesha chahta rahunga...tumhe pyaar karna meri zaroorat ban gaya hai”

Not realising how effortlessly he confessed his feelings, he felt liberated, like a huge burden was off his shoulders, like he could now breathe freely...

“bina kuch badle mein maange? she looked at him intently and this time he had gathered enough courage to look her in the eye...

“pyaar ke badle pyaar milna sabki kismat mein nahi hota, maine kabhi ye ummeed hi nahi rakhi thi...mujhe sirf tumse pyaar karna aata hai Anu, pyaar paana toh maine kabhi seekha hi nahi” choking on his words he felt like another load was off his chest...

“sach keh rahe hai aap ke pyaar paana sabki kismat mein nahi hota, maine ye sach khud jiya hai” taking a small break to bid farewell to all her past experiences, she shuffled a little closer to him cause now she was ready to embrace her future leaving her bitter past behind.

“par mere aur aapke pyaar mein bohot fark hai Anuj, mujhe toh kabhi pyar karna hi nahi aaya aur aapko kabhi pyaar dikhana nahi aaya....

kyu? kyu karte aap itna pyaar?”

Her eyes welled up as she reached for his hand to bring it up to her face...his chest swelled with joy as he looked at her with disbelief when she caressed her cheek with the back of his hand, he felt her warm tears burning his skin.

“tumhein...tumhein pyar karna aata hai Anu” he said wiping the silent tears...

.”aur pyar paana mai ab seekh loonga...” impulsively pulling her hand to his lips, he kissed it ever so passionately...his tears mixed with hers and shined together in the dimly bright moonlight...

He tugged her closer and she flopped the side of her head on his shoulder and nudged her way into his neck...he gently brushed his face with hers as they sat there in peace with arms, hands and hearts entwined...
