If you're asking BEFORE Madhuri: Sridevi. the woman had the kind of pan India success even Madhuri didn't get. Sridevi was the ultimate male fantasy of the 80s. And she gave hit after hit, many of which were sold on her name.

Madhuri found the same success, but only north of the Vindhyas. South Indians didn't appreciate Madhuri as much. Prob because exposure to Hindi movies was much lower back then, but it was what it was. Madhuri was a mega star in NORTH India.

After her... no one. Aishwarya is beautiful, but she simply doesn't have the oomph factor. Katrina did, but I don't know if anyone would go to watch a Katrina film 😆, sold on her name.
