Part 11

Shiva quickly picked up the ring and glared at Krish, who was looking terrified. The others were all staring at Shiva with their mouth open. Krish went and hid behind Raavi to protect himself and Shiva kept the box back in his pocket. Raavi was still confused as to what was happening. Was that ring for her by any chance? Shiva stalked towards Krish, threatening to beat him up. Dev stopped him.

“Arrey mujhe toh sirf thode paise chahiye the. Tu de deta toh main lauta deta tujhe yeh ring.” Krish said. “Thoda sa blackmail hi kar raha tha tujhe.”

“Woh asli diamond lagi mujhe….” Rishita said.

“Asli hi thi.” Krish said. “Shiva apni biwi ke liye 1.5 lakhs ki diamond ring laya hai. Maine toh receipt bhi dekhi!”

Rishita was shocked. She looked at Dev who was busy trying to hold Shiva back, unable to see what emotions were flashing on her face. Dhara almost had a heart attack listening to the price of that ring. Raavi’s eyes widened and she kept looking at Shiva. But he just stood there quietly without offering an explanation.

“Tune itni mehengi ring kharidi Shiva?” Dhara asked, absolutely shocked. “Abhi paiso ki kami hai aur tune diamond ring kharid li?”

“Dhara iss baare mein hum baad mein baat karte hai.” Gaumbi said, looking at Rishita who was about to burst any moment now.

“No no Dhara bhabhi. Problem kya hai? Aapke laadle Shiva ne apni manmaani kar hi di. Aur use aur Raavi ko toh har galti maaf hai. Raavi 10k ka jhula le aati hai phir Shiva uske liye 1.5 lakh ka diamond ring le aata hai. Par mujhe aur Dev ko aapke saamne haath failana padhta hai har choti choti cheezo ke liye.”

“Rishita bas kar!” Dhara shouted.

“Humesha mera hi muh bandh karwa dijiye as usual. But mujhe aaj jawab chahiye. Shiva ne kis haq se dukaan se itne paise nikal liye? Mujhe toh laga sara hisaab aap rakhti hai Dhara di. Toh aapki knowledge ke bahar isne paise kaise nikale?”

“Excuse me Rishita! Zaban sambhal ke baat karo. Paise kaise nikale ka kya matlab hai? Uss dukaan mein Shiva ka bhi hissa hai aur jo paise aate hai usme bhi Shiva ka hissa hai. Use paise lene ke liye koi clarification nahi deni paregi kisiko.” Raavi said.

“No no of course not. Saari clarification toh Dev de!” Rishita shouted.

“Par Raavi, puchna toh chahiye tha na hum sab se itne paise nikalne se pehle.” Dhara said.

“Bhabhi it’s okay.” Dev said. “Use Raavi ko gift dena tha toh usne paise nikal liye.”

“Bhabhi chill maaro na. Ise toh romance kehte hai.” Krish said, but no one paid him any heed.

“Kyu puchenge yeh? Inn dono ko toh bas apni pari hai.” Rishita said. “Raavi ke liye jhula aata hai, diamond ring aata hai, par main kuch maangu toh Dev meri baat taalta rehta hai. Par Raavi toh aapki khud ki hai. Uska toh har hukum sar aankhon pe rakha jayega.”

Shiva was trying very hard to control himself but he couldn’t bear to hear anything about Raavi. Rishita ‘bhabhi’ always got on his nerves and he tried his best to control himself whenever she opened her mouth, but not today. Raavi shouldn’t have to hear her taunts or Dhara’s scoldings about something that wasn’t her fault.

“Apni bakwaas bandh karo. Pehli baat toh woh jhula mere liye tha, mujhe chahiye tha. Raavi ne mujhe woh wedding gift ke hisaab se di hai woh bhi khud ke paiso se.” Shiva said.

Again the whole family was shocked to hear that.

“Tujhe jhula chahiye tha?” Krish asked.

“Haa toh?” Shiva said defensively.

Krish just shook his head. Dhara kept staring at Shiva for a moment and sighed. Shiva had never asked anything in his life. She was glad he atleast opened up to Raavi. But she was still concerned about the ring. It cost a lot, and they were in a financial crisis.

“Par Shiva… ek baar ring kharidne se pehle puch leta na… Tujhe pata hai abhi paiso ki kitni kami hai aur tune bina bole store se itne paise nikal liye.”

“Dhara, woh paise Shiva ke bhi hai. Usne nikal liya, thik hai. Hum manage kar lenge.” Gaumbi tried to intervene.

“Dekha Dev! Humari love marriage hui phir bhi tum mujhe ek dress dene se pehle dus baar sochte ho ki financial crisis hai aur humara Shiva, woh toh directly chup chupke ring le aata hai. Tum kitne din humse yeh baat chupake rakhte? Raavi pehenti toh hum dekh hi lete.”

“Main chupa ke nahi laya hu.” Shiva said. “Par maine socha Rishita bhabhi ko dikhane se pehle apni biwi ko dikha du. Par koi baat nahi, next time se apni biwi ke liye koi taufa laya toh aapko pehle dikha dunga.” Shiva said sarcastically, making Rishita glare at him. “Aur mujhe nahi lagta meri biwi ke liye kuch kharidne ke liye mujhe kisiki permission leni paregi. Jaha tak paiso ki baat hai, maine store se paise nahi nikale. Pichle teen dino mein maine 2 badi property ki deals finalise karwayi hai. Yeh usi ke commission ke paiso se leke aaya hu.”

Rishita was shocked to hear that. She looked at Dev angrily. Dhara felt embarrassed for pestering him about the money. Raavi smiled a little. She secretly felt proud of her husband. He earned his own money and got a gift for her.

“Bas ho gaya?” Gaumbi asked. “Woh khud apne paiso se laya hai apni biwi ke liye. Abhi bhi kisiko koi problem hai?”

Rishita stormed off to her room. Shiva stormed off into his room. Krish came to Raavi and apologised.

“Sorry bhabhi. Meri wajah se itna bada tamasha ho gaya.” Krish said. “Main toh bas use blackmail kar raha tha. Mujhe nahi pata tha ki kaand ho jayega.”

“It’s okay Krish.” Raavi said. “Tu ja apne college.”

She then walked to the room, and found Shiva sulking on the swing. He was looking extremely cute so she knelt in front of him and pulled his cheeks. Shiva glared at her and she chuckled at that slightly.

“Krish ne sab kharab kar diya.” Shiva said. “Socha tha aaj shaam ko tujhe kahi bahar le jaunga aur ring dunga but gadhere ne pehle family tamasha kar diya.”

“Usne jaan bujhke nahi kiya. Par tu bata ring kyu laya hai mere liye?” Raavi asked.

“Woh tune kaha tha na tere sapne ke baare mein…. Ki tujhe Dev ne kabhi diamond ring nahi di. Woh ek hi sapna tha jo main pura kar sakta tha tera.” Shiva said. “Aur waise bhi wedding gift meri taraf se baaki tha.”

Raavi’s heart fluttered when he said that. He wanted to make her diamond ring dream come true. She hugged him tightly hearing that and he wrapped his arms around her. His gesture was making her feel emotional.

“Mujhe ring dikha na ek baar.” Raavi said.

Shiva smirked and pulled out the ring from his pocket. She took it from him and opened it. It was a simple one carat diamond with cushion cut design. Honestly it was much much better than she’d ever dreamt about. Raavi was about to take the ring and put it on her finger, when Shiva snatched the box back from her.

“Aaj nahi.” He said. “Pehle aaj ke kaand ki memory delete karte hai brain se. Main tujhe yeh ring zaroor dunga. Par phir kabhi. Better situation mein.” He took the ring and kept it back in his pocket.

Raavi wanted to protest. Now that she’d seen the ring, she wanted it but he was right. The ambience nor the situation was right.

“Waise officially thank you main tujhe usi din bolungi par aaj…” Raavi kissed his cheek gently. “Tu na sachhi best wala husband hai.”

Shiva smiled. He went and kept the ring back in their cupboard. She’d never believed he could he so caring. For his family, obviously but never for her. But now that he was, she wanted to thank him for this. In some very special way.
