🎵S. Janaki: One Voice that Reflected in a Thousand Melodious Emotions
An interesting episode about truth and lies
Betty, always trying to bite of more than they can chew! Its evident, like their actions, they are unable to control their emotions or expressions and hence Gayatri, Kanchan, Shaan and Shaurya have a doubt.
At this point I like tej's approach, he is annoyed that this is a hassle but wants to follow the rules as its not hampering his own pride yet.
Anokhi is in shock and yet Bhatia Mother Son duo have nothing positive to contribute. But as i said earlier, they are the exact reflection of the society. This is how society reacts to women.
If i ever though Babli is weak previously, i take it back. Her strength is subtle. She is managing to help her sister in a hostile environment and still making the best of the situation. She is holding on for Anokhi when Anokhi cant. The icecream scene was actually soothing.
What to say about Anokhi. To be touched when you dont want it, its absolutely disgusting. DISGUSTING. This Girl, stills wants to put this behind on Babli's behest and move forward because her dreams are bigger. The strength to fight back is commendable here as not a lot of women do. Maybe that was the point they wanted to make.
The next morning, the very obvious flashbacks trouble her. Infact this is something expected. What i found beautiful and weird was the music. While the accidental shakhi scene was beautiful the romantic music was not required. It was a scene of care. Pure undiluted concern. The scene overall was beautifully shot. Again an indication of the fact that whenever Anokhi is in trouble or is about to give up Shaurya will be there. I dont think that both of them have ever realized how they are slowly changing things for each other. Shifting into each other's universe.
In the class, Shaurya is full on professor mode. Calls out on the raging. Anokhi points out the group but the pointed hand constantly looked very weird :P. You could see the expression change for Shaurya when she said it was Bebo and next when she spoke about the molestation in Anmol's case, he was shocked/ angry/ concerned...what? I really could not gauge the expression here.
Side Note 1: Honestly, it slowly looks like Anokhi is noticing shaurya after his help. I honestly thought she would fall first! Or did she fall for him all along without realizing it?
Side Note 2: Shaurya's "tum theek ho"...wow! KV is good with calm emotional scenes over the raging passionate ones (the shake shake shake scenes)
Why is it that women are always blamed for men's bad action. Vineet's mother represented society at large in this episode, telling us the main thought in the mind of people when a girl is molested.
Vineet is a product of his mother. He was not as bad as his mother since he blamed Anokhi for not telling the Sabherwsl about the kissing part when on campus.
Babli and Rama, by showing their concern and support gives Anokhi that spark to seek justice. She feels she needs to do this to give strength to her mum and sis.
Tej is all about showing he is the symbol of objectivity but even whilst starting the procedure, he questions the fact whether what Anokhi is saying is in fact a case of ragging.
Shaurya shows two facets here one the caring man who is there to support someone in distress and he treats Anokhi with utmost care and softness and promises to take action.
But when he enters the room the way he asks Anokhi to.pount out is not helpful. Whilst he was 100 percent sure it was a case of ragging, all the stories of Bebo, the way Tej approached the matter has influenced him also. He is questioning whether ragging occurred.
When the VIP gang is pointed out he immediately has this reaction that this cannot be happening. Sabherwal girls do not lie must be resonating in his ears.
It would ge interesting to see how this unfolds...
Side note: I was really angry with Aastha when she was so worried for Anokhi but she did not give a damn for her son for 25 years..
I am not saying she should not care, but her character is too selective in love/care matters
Are the sisters so kind hearted as to feel bad for an innocent person to be proven guilty? No. Bebo in response to Shaan has this excuse but no one in their right senses would believe them especially Mr ss. They constantly harp on how Anokhi is challenging Shaurya Sabherwal’s capabilities and even argues with him. However Ss is quick to put a stop to their nonsense as it shouldn’t matter to them how she behaves with him and they will be punished if proven guilty. They are constantly trying to provoke ss against Anokhi as they know he is the most difficult person to deal with when it comes to convincing him to believe something that’s not true. Kanchan and Gayatri are all observant of the sister’s nervousness.
Tej is all up when it comes to reputation of the institution. He goes by the rules and seems a righteous person when it comes to matters of his institution. Ss on the other hand is equally worried for both and Shaan is all emotional and more worried for Anokhi. Three people from the same family have their own way of looking at things. Alok, the less said the better. He doesn’t seem to have any ethics at all in my opinion.
Babli a true sister indeed. Babli who is usually shown to be meek when it comes to defending herself doesn’t hesitate to respond to her m-I-l of how she could say such demeaning things to her sister when she is a woman herself. Mrs Bhatia…how ruthless and heartless to say if Anokhi initiated the kiss? To a girl who has just been through the situation and in shock. She is a true example of a woman against a woman. Mr Bhatia.. a good hearted soul. it was a natural human instinct to show support by putting his hands on her shoulder. A nice gesture indeed.
Anokhi.. a true fighter she is. Although the incident made her weak for a few moments she quickly gathered courage and showed her strength and her positive outlook. This is what I really appreciate about her character. When Rama says that cities aren’t meant for people from small towns she looks out for positive side of how she got into the institution and her dreams shouldn’t be affected just because of a bunch of spoilt brats.
Shaurya and Anokhi bumping into each other has my ❤️. Their eyes made all the talking. They both didn’t hesitate to look into each other’s eyes.
Shaurya as if checking to see if she was fine after all that has happened and Anokhi reading his eyes to see if the person who saved her was the same person who tried his best to not let her get into the institution. Shaurya holding on to her as if to show his support and Anokhi holding on to him as if she believes he can make sure he gets her justice. The way he beckons her into the classroom by assuring her is what all Anokhi needed to get out of the fear of the gang. Though she would’ve gathered courage and entered on her own this gesture made her feel confident that she has someone to reach out.
Shaurya feels a bit shocked to know that his sisters are involved. Though he had a doubt on them, he wanted himself to be proven wrong and was sure that he would be wrong. His belief of their innocence stems from the regular rant from BM about Sabherwal daughters being rightful and the doubt roots from his inner conscience and his common sense. This time Anokhi doesn’t hesitate to mention about the kiss now that she has come out of the trauma if not completely but partially. All the good talk and support shown along with her inner strength have helped her sail through it.

The two girls are like those empty drums who only make noise...

Shaurya knows how they behave with girls from a social circle lower than theirs. He gas seen their behaviour with Kanchan who is family so will not trust their words blindly.
Tej is all up when it comes to reputation of the institution. He goes by the rules and seems a righteous person when it comes to matters of his institution. Yes, Four men, the eldest all about values as long as it suits him. The youngest brother Alok who has no values and is all about using his name for profiteering.
Shaan and his son are the only ones having some humanity in them. Though Tej may influence Shaurya.
The twins are bad liars but the family is choosing to stay blind to their suspicious behavior. Thankfully Gayatri knows her girls are evil Sabherwals. Tej heading the investigation sounds like it would be impartial except that he goes into it thinking Anokhi is lying. And with it involving Sabherwal kids, it looks like a conflict of interest. This was the same issue when the Sabherwals "investigated" the Alok harassment charge without involving the police. If ragging is a crime, how can it be handled without involving the police? What is this internal investigation?
Anokhi is so traumatized and keeps replaying the ragging and molestation. Deba plays it so well. There's a deadness and fear that her eyes convey. Vineet is true to form and absolute trash. Mrs. Bhatia joins him as the voice of society.....always quick to blame the girl. Babli reminds her 'aap khud ek aurat hai". The truth of a woman's place in society is further shown by Rama Bhalla's reaction. She doesn't blame her child, but she would rather keep her girl at home and cut off her wings than demand a safer world for her to soar in. Rama folds at the first sign of trouble. Wonder where Anokhi got her iron spine from?
The Shakhi scene is always the highlight of an episode! As Anokhi loses courage, it's always Shaurya that shows up. He is so soft and caring when he asks "Tum teek ho?". He might have told her that she needs to learn to take care of herself, but he's also the one to say "Tumhe darne ki koyi zaroorat nahi hai....main hoon na!". I love how brave Anokhi is, meeting the culprits eye to eye and pointing them out. She also stated the molestation charge against Anmol.
Side notes:
~ Using the song Khud Se on Anokhi's breakdown has a different effect than the hug did. Also Babli is the sweetest Di, predicting that only good things will come for Anokhi from now on and sweetening it up with ice cream that she stole!
~ Aastha is so level headed and so brave. She walked towards a strange sound in the dark with a stick. I would be cowering in the corner! And after seeing a beheaded doll and a nasty message, she's so calm that she takes photos of the evidence.
~ I can't believe that Shaurya actually said that it's the first time ragging has happened at SIAC. He's so delusional!
I'm sooooo behind on episodes!!

That is the first reaction of every mother. I myself would at first prevent my daughter from going out alone at night.
The Sabhetwal world is in another sphere of life. Anokhi will make him come down to earth...
Take your time but do not leave. I am enjoying these analyses...
I totally respect the feelings of a parent that wants to protect their child. I just feel bad for the opportunities lost by 50% of society because the other 50% doesn't know how to respect consent. Anokhi mentions it to Shaurya after the attempted kidnapping when he blames her for walking outside in the dark. Why does a man get to go outside without worry or restrictions but women are not given the same freedom? I know we have to deal in the reality in front of us, but I hope that we work towards the ideal society as well.
The other day, I was thinking about how much Anokhi would burst the Sabherwal bubble. She opens his eyes to how obnoxious and deceitful his sisters actually are. She also opens his eyes to his biases. She also gives him incentive to talk back. He used to just go along with the Sabherwal soch without calling out Tejvi or Alok. She really poked that happy family bubble!
I will be around and still start the episode posts daily, but I'll probably be really slow in episode reviews. Semester is in its fourth week and exams are rolling in and so much grading and planning to do.
Btw, I think I saw you on twitter. I'm Anju_Nambiar on twitter!
