Toe rings and Payal are integral part of a Telugu bride attire. Toe rings are called mattillu and in fact husband's house is often referred to as matteillu(meaning the house that gifted me the mattilu)

In Maharastrian culture too toe-rings are very significant. They are called Jodvya. But I have never seen Pallu wear it on show so it was a pleasant surprise to see her wear it yesterday.
