I don’t think so.
Yes, given Preity has a effervescent personality and is cute and all. But, don’t forget that there was more to Geet than being just that. The second half of the film was the true test for any actress essaying that role because it was a 360 degree turn to what she had been upto that point. And Kareena was 10/10 She was excellent at portraying both the sides of Geet. She made me laugh hard the first half and she actually made me cry when she showed how lifeless and melancholic Geet had become post her boyfriend dumping her. I do not believe Preity could have brought out those emotions so strongly. Kareena’s flawless performance is a big reason why the movie did so well in the first place.

I can think of Rani being able to carry Geet well but not Preity.

Nope.Kareena was the perfect choice for a character like Geet.

Rani could have essayed the role with ease. Preity too, though I don't know if she could be as good as KK.

The thing is, Rani/PZ had done these Geet roles so many times in the past, it would seem like a rehash of those old roles -- HT, BnB, SN, KHNH etc are all on the same wavelength. In fact it was precisely because Rani/Preity played this same bubbly-girl-who-later-turns-emotional-romantic-heroine so many times that people got thoroughly sick at the sight of them that they moved on to the newer heroines.

For Kareena this was the FIRST time she played a bubbly heroine which she didn't mess up (think of all her Poo roles and how bad her acting were). Hence Geet became a bigger thing for the audience.

That's one of my favourite role of Kareena.

No, as much as I dislike Kareena, she was perfect as Geet. It is the most iconic female role of this millenium. Even though there many greater performance by greater actresses, the way Geet captured the pop culture, it is not possible for others.

Jab We Mat was a beautiful movie and everyone in it was beautifully adjusted, no change is required. Especially not Priety

I loathe Kareena and at any point would prefer to choose another actress over her. However, as much as I find Preity adorable, I do not think she’s a good actress at all. So nah. Kareena did well as Geet in JWM. 😔

Ya she could have but then there wouldn’t be any novelty in it, she was known for those hyper , bubbly roles.
