While I didnât like Pallavi beating him with the stick (but I understand this is ITV and itâs more acceptable to see that ) and I didnât like (at all) that Raghavâs hand went up (and it was definitely poised to slap her) ⊠Iâve realized that ITV dramatizes everything. We ALL need to stop looking at the show as if weâre the characters. (Should I put that in the edt or is it not worth it ? LOL).
If Pallavi can forgive Raghav for tying her to a chair and leaving her to sit in front of an incoming truck, what makes people think Raghav cares so much about getting âpunishedâ by his wife? He likes it when Pallavi gets feisty anyway. âșïžâșïž This guy is prob half turned on, letâs all be honest here. đ€Ł

Beating someone isnât good but in MHRW itâs normal now, they forgive without sorry and move on, this is not first time violence has happened in MHRW.
People need to chill , going on and on about it

Guys it was fun reading all the pages of the AT (I had sometime to spare right now and luckily the AT wasn't moving).
I absolutely did not like yesterday's episode (that is on me) but I enjoyed today's episode (have some reservations which I will put down below).
Pallavi - Raghav scene at night
I believe it was extremely silly of Raghav to be near the D house without a mask. He was lucky it was Pallavi otherwise his cover would have blown badly.
Coming to the controversial scene with the danda, I did not like it at all. Domestic Violence in any form or manner on any gender should not be considered as normal. It was a big danda and seemed to hurt bad. Even when Raghav said later she could hit him if it helped, he said I will get a broom (and not the danda) - implying he was hurt with the danda. In the same breath, I will say I did not like Raghav raising his hand to hit her (I know he stopped and it was an impulsive action). While I read everyone's opinions and agree to this that it is normal in the MHRW world I wish makers exercised some caution because such scenes are not funny.
The issue here is my belief that if anything helps build the narrative of the story, adds on to the story or makes it more pleasant to watch - only then add it because when viewed in context it can be digestible.
In this scene, had they used a broom, it may have sat better with me, grabbing of collar or yelling at him or hitting his chest- even better (we have seen such instances before and it weren't so off). Same with the hand raising by Raghav, if he screamt her name or shook her by her shoulders - may be it would have driven the same point across in a better manner.
While I loved their conversation and both hugs (I will talk separately about the hugs), I feel she raised the point of what would happen if Mandar had killed me but the topic of harassment was brushed. This is what I am afraid of and I hope when Mandar's track ends, Pallavi clearly highlights that she avenged him for Devyani murder, trying to kill aayi as well as the torture she went through.
I am glad she pulled Raghav up for playing pranks on her when the situation was not right. He did the same thing in the memory loss prank where she pointed it out to him how insensitive he was - was he even listening. I hope we never have such insensitive actions from Raghav which totally dilutes his character.
Raghvi kya karte hai
So Raghav installed the microphones and was able to track Mandar meeting someone. I am taking a moment to list how silly this entire sequence was:
1. He is following Mandar on an open road - very likely would have blown his cover because he was in Swapnil disguise which Mandar very well recognizes. His head gear was so big that he was unable to peep without the head gear being seen.
2. He was lucky he found a hiding place when Mandar turned otherwise his cover would have blown.
3. He should have used a detective or another staff to tail Mandar and follow him so that he could focus on other things which no one else can do. He didn't find anything by following Mandar that any other person would have not found.
4. He didn't take down the number plate or picture of the bike person - doesn't Raghav want to know what Mandar is upto and what Mandar gave the bike guy.
5. He didn't carry his phone when he went to chase Mandar (convenient plot point to get Pallavi stuck in Mandar's room)
6. If Raghvi were waiting for aayi to get better and then testify as proof against Mandar, unko RR mansion hi late and tried to improve her health. I think they need a better plan to fight Mandar rather than relying on external things like Aayi health which is beyond their control. I liked how Raghav asked Pallavi how aayi was doing - his concern was sweet.
I was happy to see both Raghvi save each other - Raghav got the smoke to save Pallavi and she came back to the room to tell Mandar why Swapnil came to do the dhua. Excellent team work. Also, hope Pallavi registered that Mandar has issues with fire and smoke - it will come handy later on.
It was really good to see the change in demeanor surrounding Pallavi. Raghav's presence clearly made her mind at peace and she was able to find out those papers. I guess they brushed it - I hope some research is done on those as it could be relevant.
Hugs and kisses
I have been noticing the slight progression we are getting in terms of their physical intimacy each episode. Every hug and kiss is different (more intimate) than the previous. I loved both the hugs today. It was one of comfort as well as passion. The camera angles they use in hugs where they zoom their bodies from down to the top clearing indicating how tight the hug is is excellent. In ITV, I have only seen hugs from top close angles where it looks fake. I also love how her hand is in his head/ hair - been noticing this in all their passionate hugs (confession, outside the toilet and today) and makes it their USP.
Also, the hug when she leans into him while sitting was so nice to watch. Raghav has mighty palms and I loved how they showed his palm on her bare back - again a sign of progress in their intimacy. She looked so tiny again in front of his built body.
Coming to the kiss - I feel after Pallavi is getting more vocal and bold with him, he is finding his footing in stealing kisses from her. We already had the kitchen scene and today. It felt like it was such a casual thing for them - him kissing her. Also, him so casually leaning for a liplock (wish cvs show with camera angles) is proof of the intimacy they are beginning to share. Please CVs show it to us with all possible angles but dont make us assume (we assume a lot of things anyway).
Having said the above, I am happy they are showing this gradually and consistently as Raghvi are a very passionate touchy couple. I would not expect any less from them (PS -FIREWORKS IN THEIR KISSES ARE REAL).
I also loved 2 more things - Pallavi clearly acknowledging that seeing his eyes and holding his hand made her feel it could be Raghav but since he didn't upfront disclose, she brushed it off. It was but natural that she wont go and ask Swapnil - are you my husband? I also loved how she asked him to handle business while Rama and she held the fort at D house. Poor Raghav will go crazy multi-tasking and he should realize it is time he delegates non important work like following Mandar to his staff or outsourced help.
I am surprised why hasn't he put a tail / tap on Mandar and Sunki till now. I want to see a smart Raghav pls CVs.
I am fine with him signing the divorce papers - clearly this guy has pressing matters and would never have imagined Keerti would do such a thing. It makes for an interesting view how Pallavi will manage to not sign the papers because I know it wont happen.
Precap - It is so funny to see Pallavi say I will burn my hand but not sign the papers... SMH. TRP ke liye kya kya nai karna padta.
Raghav needs to control his anger. Agar Mandar ka murder hi karna tha why wait so long and put everyone through this misery.
Also, I think after reading everyone's posts I am realizing I am taking this show so seriously that I am unable to filter out smaller flaws in execution or storytelling. Actually I feel we are spoiled by the makers by delivering such top notch content ki abhi any dip in that makes me feel off. But next week se motto of hawa main filter is back. Off course jab gush karna hoga usmain no kanjusi.
TLDR - It was a rant cum episode analysis :P
shes looking absolutely gorgeous đ
Thats a great point you made about how Raghavs abuse is always seen as abuse. This is common in ITV - when a man does something out of anger, itâs shown as a fearful scene, and thus given the connotation that it is abuse/bad. And when a woman does it, they throw in funny bgm and play it off as a comedy scene. The other show I recently saw fl hit men was a serious scene though. So it does vary but yeah more often than not, if a woman is beating her husband, itâs funny.
I would never even consider Raghav raising his hand on Pallavi an action born out of love, it was definitely wrong in my book. Doesnât matter if he didnât like what she said, his hand didnât need to go up. Him yelling her name in a warning tone was enough.
Since Iâm already dissecting this scene - in Pallavis situation, she did not need to grab the stick. I wouldâve rather seen her inch closer and closer to him and yell his ear off.
ITV does like to dramatize things for shock value and dramatic or comedic effect. Like I said in my post, irl, none of their behavior is acceptable or forgivable, but in their world it is. P forgave R for all that he did and R accepts when she wants to beat him with a stick bc he p*ssed her off. They play the womanâs scenes as comedy bc of the misogynistic view that women are too weak to actually beat men - hence its âfunnyâ when they try bc they wonât ever dish out real harm.
I am a fan of both characters and will often point out both their faults. But the whole purpose of my point is just to highlight that we cannot force characters to think and react how we want them to. At the end of the day, ITV is not here to be an educational series. We are not supposed to learn anything from it. And so to expect it to be politically correct is a lost cause IMO.
We are watching the show in the universe THE CVs want to show it in. We canât ignore their norms to appease our own moral compass. If it goes against what we can tolerate, itâs just best not to watch.
Something no one really speaks about - Theyâre showing Raghav in brown face. Multiple times. And at times when heâs cosplaying as a worker. I have not seen one post about this complaining about how problematic that is. Itâs as if it didnât even register as an issue to people. But for me? I despised it. Iâm American - this is a highly sensitive topic for me. And I know colorism exists in the Indian subcontinent. So how did this just blow over everyoneâs head ? Is it bc itâs something weâve accepted as a norm in ITV comedy tracks? I think so. Thatâs why no one seemed to really bat an eye about that. But I let it go bc itâs just a show and it doesnât affect my life. This is what is happening, so ok, my choices are to keep watching or turn it off.
To truly tackle any of these issues in media, one actually has to tackle the culture & society from which it comes from first.
The incident you spoke about is unfortunate. But those are the same incidents that IMO divert the blame from the individual to something that is essentially, art. While media influences behavior, it doesnât make the individual exempt from being accountable for their behavior. The movie did not force the individual to watch it or learn from it. I donât agree with the courts decision in that case. Unless they could prove that the individual was also mentally impaired/imbalanced where it affected his decision making and thinking skills, it sounds like a cop out to me.
I really liked reading your point of view today on the domestic abuse and just general viewing of the show and understand where you come from in the context of this being a TV show and we should not take everything so seriously. This show is made for the TRP audience and they don't go thinking about the implications of a particular scene - they want for entertainment.
I want to address your question about the brown face - you had raised it earlier also in a post and I had replied briefly. Hapc (Adu) has accurately responded to your reservations which I totally agree with, let me add my 2 cents.
1. The show is made for the masses in India We all are brown people so it is not a big deal unless the theme of the show itself talks about being brown face (Bidaai but it was a social cause show).
2, The bigger issue generally is when a brown face character is played by a fair actor and make up is used to portray the actor as brown skin. This is not the issue here in our show.
3. Raghav is under a disguise in the D house. It makes sense to show it effectively, he darkened his complexion. It added to his disguise. Here the intention of the makers was not to show the brown face on your face. I don't think anyone called him out for his color or made fun of his skin color here.
4. I understand why this could be a touchy subject for you and like you hawa main filter all other things (I wish I can do it myself for topics that bother me), hope you are able to filter this. The makers here don't intend to hurt anyone by showing this as funny or ok.
