I think most likely a messy divorce case for Pritam which is going on for years!! That is why he is so angry and irritated all the time!!

Honestly, I would rather have him being a widower than going through an ugly divorce. Because if it is a divorce track, I am pretty sure the ex will return right at the time Pritam & Amrita realize their feelings and are about to confess. Its the classic ITV love triangle after all.

It would be much better if the woman is a mother (I find it unlikely) or a step-mother who is vying for some property.

Even I thought so initially but now I think, Pritam has a wife and he was going to have a child with her but his job came in between, due to which both his wife and child were killed. The woman tormenting him can be his wife's mother who blames him for his daughters death. Wild guess I know but I have a gut feeling
