There is no specific Goddess by name Varalaxmi but the Goddess laxmi who bless ladies with all prosperity, virtue of being suhagan as long as she lives and blessings to children. In short to have a happy and prosperous married life.

"Varalakshmi Vratham 2021 will be observed on Friday, August 20, 2021 this year. The festival of Varalakshmi Vratham falls in the month of Shravana (July–August) Shukla Paksha (bright half of the lunar month) on Shukravar (Friday). Varalakshmi is a goddess who grants boons ("Vara") to her devotees who keep faith on her. The festival of Varalakshmi is most popular in parts of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Maharastra and Uttar Pradesh".

There is no strict rules to today's pooja. Regular day with a difference is to wake up early, keep home neat and tidy and stay cheerful throughout. Mostly ladies purchase gold coin to offer Goddess later they wear themselves. Since goddess loves chana (or sweets prepared with Besan) we prepare the same to offer her.

Every ritual has its own significance scientifically when adopted with belief and dedication.

Thank you Padma for enlightening me about the festival and its significance, being in city, away from our hometown, we do not know lots of things! Hope you did all rituals to your satisfaction and were happy!❤️

Today is Onam, celebrated predominantly in Kerala, love the gaiety and flower arrangements done during this festival, the festive food is also supposed to be awesome, Happy Onam to all those who celebrate!
