US is very much responsible for this. 2 trillion dollars wasted for a “nation building” where American military contractors and weapons companies got richer.

And how does that mean the U.S. created Taliban? What you're saying only means Americans got cheated out of their money and the lives of their children to enrich the companies. The Taliban was there before.

FYI. The U.S. went in in 2001 because Taliban refused to give up bin Laden. They continued after his death because Obama didn't want to leave the country in that state. Now that the U.S. left, Taliban is back.

I gave you facts. Not my opinion.😊 Taliban came after the U.S. left in the late 80s.

Mujahedeen recruitment started in response to Soviet invasion. Putin was a part of KGB then. Yet you claimed Russia isn't part of anything. Not only that, they're still doing the same in the Middle East.

No, Americans aren't saints, and they've done a lot of horrors in the name of defeating communism, but it's still a great deal better to have the U.S. on your side than any other country in the world. After all, they'll take the insults and still send help. Although I don't think it's happening this time. The poor Afghans.

Sure thanks for sharing your version of facts.

Because I wasn’t. I’ll be the first person Talibans would target and kill if they saw me in person. Add in my finger-fetish username and I’m done for. I represent everything they hate.

No, facts have only one version. Even in that Wiki article, it is pretty clear. You can look it up at any scholarly history analysis website. Or newspaper archives. Taliban was formed after the U.S. left.

I think the members here already explained how US supported Taliban and led to its rise . My post was just meant to be an addendum on how US created a bigger mess with the invasion and didn’t do jack shit in the name of nation building.

Sadly very true.. Taliban is misleading world audience to show that they are doing this for greater good.

What you are saying is a half truth but a fact widely known is that US helped formation of Taliban. But it was after 2001 attacks the snake in their far away backyard showed it true colors. We have seen same thing happening with ISIS.

It was the US that trained and supplied bin Laden and turned him into a hero because they used him to fight a proxy war with the Soviets. There are old articles in US newspapers singing bin Laden’s praises.

Americans have convinced themselves they are white saviors but nobody else believes it.

When the Soviets left Afghanistan, these mujahideen who had been supplied and trained by the US filtered into Kashmir and turned it into a hell hole. Before that, Kashmir was pretty safe.

The US has regularly supported coups, dictators and insurgents depending on what benefited them the most and left a trail of destruction everywhere. I am American too but I don’t wear rose colored glasses.
