Sony should make some episodes from Compiling all the performances that were cut from the final airing!

They have cut so many good performances. Maybe telecast some unseen previous performances at the finale or make special episodes of it after the finale for the audience that will have withdrawal symptoms after the show ends 😃

But Aru wasn't ya? She mesmerized the audience with her talent and her popularity literally forced the channel to highlight her..at least fans of other contestants should acknowledge her as the deserving one.

In the days when SMP was praised a lot by the judges (she still is), got a lot of screen space..in the days when Anjali's fabulous classical skills were highlighted, when Sawai was hugely popular and highly voted ..it was Arunita who won people's heart on the basis of her heavenly voice and solid skills..and she crossed Pawan's votes too quite a few times.

And all 6 are putting in hard work and giving stellar performances. Wo artist hi kya jo haar ke darr se peeche hat jaaye.

Admire all. Won't undermine anyone just to appreciate anyone else

Personally, I don’t even consider Indian Idol as a competition anymore. It was stretched way too long and many things went hay wire. To me, this is just a musical concert now.

Participants should take it as a learning ground and then continue with their career goals. Anyway, the real struggle begins after the show ends. So, wishing all the best to finalists and ex-contestants.👍🏼

I think the makers pinned a lot of hope on Ashish too at the beginning. Pity he did not get the support he deserved.

I am not so sure about this Arunita - Sony relationship. She has admitted freely that initially, because of nervousness, she was performing at 30% of her own expectations. Despite that a 30% Arunita managed a 63M view song on YT. That is talent that hits the audience and the magic of her singing. Most people say that hearing her live is a great experience. Even parents of other contestants! (Those waiting for her concerts abroad please note 😊 )

Look, we kind of think that there is no research is done on contestants. Judges don't share notes with the technical team etc. etc. Nothing of the sort. If we know so much about Arunita, you can bet that Neeraj Kalkar and the rest know much more. Half the band know her well from before and Aditya has performed with her. Her abilities were never in question I feel. It was a matter of time.

Why they did not promote her aggressively like the other top singers from the beginning is a mystery. She was so nervous that she actually started asking for votes. Her father's arrival changed a lot of things for her I felt. He is a steady hand behind her. She flowered thereafter and sealed her ownership of the show by almost single-handedly (with Danish) anchoring the Ramnavami episode and ensuring that the show's TRP did not dip. From that moment she may have been lettered in for the finale by the makers.

My opinion. I have bias which I try to control in open threads 😃

Since I have been watching the show from March, I really can't comment on preference for SMP by show makers. However from Powerplay, what I have seen is the unconcealed sidelining of SMP. This all got even more perceptible, since the time the trolling started and also unfortunately was so much overhyped by even the mainstream media. Every week used to get updates with selected highlights of obnoxious tweets on Google notifications!

In initial stage Anu Malik was appreciative, but slowly stopped even acknowledging her! A slight nudge from show makers may be.

I still remember the 1 minute songs given to her and then edit the judges comments, give no songs at all for select judges (Anandji) particularly when others were singing 3 to 5 songs per episode.

She was not even allowed to show her full repertoire, in classical singing! Her greatest appreciation during that dark period came from external sources (guests).

But am very proud of the fact that SMP simply did not change her approach and went full steam ahead with her own version, steadfast in her conviction even as others went for mid course correction (Nihal) which steadily made him much more appreciable (Which was indeed very well deserved)

Even after all this, she is in the Finale, clearly shows that there is a fixed, strong support base, which had to considered. Am sure any other contestant with these kind of nasty comments on them, would have broken down in the mid journey.

Sorry, for bringing these unpleasant thoughts, but when it is being written about as if SMP was the channel favourite, then felt the need to put the record straight. The path taken by her is indeed lonely and very difficult for convincing others but nevertheless her conviction in continuing at it, is commendable.

Thanks. Nicely summed up. While many people acknowledge Arunitha is not promoted in initial episodes as much as others but she was never treated as badly as SMP during powerplay also even in the intial episodes as I watched all of them. Anyway irrespective of all this iam happy SMP reached the final stage just because of her talent without any support or promotion from channel and also without resorting to dramas. She may not win but for me she really set a good precedence for future female enthusiasts how to stay true to your passion and character while participating in scripted and fake shows.
