@Shradha, @Mau, loving all your thoughts! I agree with Mau, the engagement has happened. He was engaged or supposed to get engaged to Sana also right? I think the grand father desired it. This also seems to be something his family would be happy with.

Mayank is a good guy, but not the senior Ojhas. They give me the heebie jeebies. Reading what Hansa and both of you were saying, I think the marriage was not properly registered or he has got it annulled. I feel the parents have something on him, they are forcing him to do certain things. Maybe they forced him into the fake marriage scenario. Senior Ojha is/was a lawyer? He looks to be someone who has a veritable bag of tricks up his sleeve.

You are right. It's not fair to hold Mayank responsible for thinking of himself first or for his family's actions. I was generally okay with him except the fact that he has been very mean to Kirti during the initial days of marriage, knowing that she is herself going through hell. Like he didn't care she got burned, etc. I expected better from a friend. But then again, he was justified in a way.

Has never abused their relation, in fact made fun of the intimacy and then the entire thing with his mom and dad. Asked his dad to help her with selling home and Kirti needs to work on her lessons rather than fold clothes.

We all are so much in Kirti's camp that we overlook what her actions and behavior mean to others. She is good hearted but does not think through her actions or behavior

I hope we have seen last of that slimy smiling senior Ohja. I dont think parents have anything to do with the marriage. They did not even know...the trigger could be Nishit proposal. Mayank thought he was rescuing his friend from making grave mistake.

Yeah, and with his father's poor health, Nishit may have given in to the pressure. I also feel he regrets making the "obsession & madness" confession to Kirti. A person who is otherwise so guarded showed his most vulnerable side to the person who was the reason for his misery. So getting engaged could also be a move to prove to her (and himself) that he has finally moved on.

Speaking of which, I am also glad that Kirti has accepted his engagement with grace. Her thoughts about future involved getting fit, getting a job and spending life happily with Radha, Dadi & Biplab. I loved her positive mindset, as compared to what we saw at the end of the previous chapter. She cried and got over it to embrace the life she designed for herself. Way to go girl!

Kirti doesn’t have the luxury to pause and think. From the start we have seen her going day to day, trying to sort one problem after another, trying to keep her head above water. I’m remembering that confusion in the beginning, Prasanna inviting her which she declines, Tejas then tricking her to come over, but both of them failing to see how her life is so packed. I wonder if she has a sort of PTSD, from the eloping mother, to the death of her father.

I guess @Eastender's speculation that Kirti and Mayank are not officially married might be true. Maybe that is the reason the senior Ojhas have hidden the "Marriage certificate" as it is null and void and they don't want Kirti to know about it. They would have a proper marriage ritual and then Kirti would be tied with Mayank for real.

Is this what mom Ojha meant when she said they need to clip Kirti's wings?

And is this what Mayank wants to tell Kirti?

Surely the Ojhas are playing some dirty games and Mayank might know about it.

Secondly, I was also thinking about Hardiik. (the double "i" guy 😆)

If he has always been hanging around Singh's neighborhood, was he planted by Urmi to keep an eye on the kids from many years?

It would be a weird concidence if Hardiik, who is apparently from Kirti's area, ends up being Urmi's "friend"?

It feels like though Kirti is the protagonist of her own life, there are way too many sutradhars of her life. (Tejas, Shruti, Urmi, Karuna, Hardiik, Ojhas....)

Agree with you about Ohjas not involved in the "fake" marriage. But I still think Mayank didn't marry Kirti for her benefit. I have a feeling Urmi/Hardiik has a hand in that decision. It's quite possible that Hardiik may have given him the idea to just "pretend" to get married.

My biggest irritation with Kirti would be that she does not let others tell the entire story and jumps to conclusions.

Latest was the phone call from Mayank.

Earlier was at the hospital when Raagini told Nishit to marry Mithila. For heavens sake, why can't she wait for the whole conversation to get over before she exits the scene or cuts a conversation.

Gauri, this surely reminds me of someone who jumped into conclusions in a certain terrace scene. 😆

Kirti must be surely inspired by daily soaps to not get the whole picture. 🤦
