And like I said, working 3 weeks doesn't trigger unemployment benefits. You have to have a much longer work history to receive payments. Nobody can work for only 3 weeks and then get unemployment benefits. This is simply not possible. If that person got benefits, it means they had already worked 20+ weeks in the base year. If that person was already unemployed before taking that job for 3 weeks, it just messed up them even more because that job would have *ended* their payments and they would have had to filed again and get approved again. And for what? What did they have to gain? What it means it that they *tried* to work but ended up quitting because it wasn't paying enough or it was a very poor job.
And even the quitting thing doesn't seem believable because quitting yourself does not provide unemployment! The employer would be asked why the person is no longer working there. Unemployment is only given to those that get laid off and not those that quit themselves unless you are able to show good cause.
Sorry but this whole "lazy person worked 3 weeks and quit to get unemployment" doesn't make sense.
Unemployment benefits are not some easy freebie you are getting. You get unemployment benefits because when you are working, you pay unemployment taxes. It's like getting social security payments after 65 because you've paid into the system during your working life. None of these things are freebies that are being handed to people.
The way that Republicans have taught people to be cruel to each other is something I really can't believe.
