Part - 8

ShiVi are still hugging each other. Rishita is touched by Shiva’s words and she keeps looking at ShiVi happily. She clears her throat to bring back ShiVi back to this world. ShiVi come back to their senses and move away from each other. Raavi tells Shiva that he is important to her more than her dreams about their wedding ceremony and she doesn’t mind how they get married. Shiva tries to convince her not to rush things. But Raavi is adamant that they have to go ahead with Rishita’s plan of Court marriage. Finally Shiva agrees for Court marriage as he too doesn’t want to take any chance knowing Prafulla’s obsession with America dream. ShiVi decide that they will keep their court marriage a secret till Dev gets married. Raavi is happy. Rishita also feels happy for her friend and she is too excited about ShiVi’s court marriage decision. Raavi wonders how to do the Court marriage. Rishita offers to help ShiVi as her father Janardhan knows someone in the District Court who registers the court marriages.

Rishita: tu chinta mat kar Raavi! Meri papa haina wo sab kuch sambhalenge. Meri papa ka dost District Court me kaam karte hai. Unke madad se aaj tak meri papa ne 99 love marriages kara chuke hai. Aap dono ke shaadi 100th hojayigi

Shiva rolls his eyes and says sarcastically: dekh Raavi! Ye Rishita teri madad nahi kar rahi hai balki apni papa ki century ka intezam kar rahi hai

Raavi: please chup raho Shiva warna Rishita madad nahi karegi

With a smirk Rishita goes inside and brings Janardhan along with her. Raavi greets him and Janardhan gestures every one to sit.

Jaanu: Rishita told me everything. I am happy to help you people. I have already helped 99 couples to get married.

Raavi: Thanks uncle.

Shiva does not respond.

Raavi notices that Shiva is not involving himself fully in the conversation and she understands that Shiva feels bad about getting married without their families but he agreed for her sake. She whispers in Shiva's ears " Shiva! tu teek ho?"

Shiva says "mmm"

Janardhan notices the restlessness in ShiVi and tries to comfort them.

Jaanu: You people don't be worried. I will take care of everything

Raavi: Uncle, we are little hesitant to get married without our families

Jaanu: bas itni si baat hai. aap dono ke family ko bhi saath me lekar aao. Courtwale mana thodi kar denge?

Shiva rolls his eyes and whispers in Raavi's ears "dekh....jaise beti waise baap"

Raavi nudges him at his elbow and gestures him to be quiet.

Rishita explains the story so far to Janardhan and he understands that ShiVi families should not be present during the marriage. Still Janardhan assures ShiVi that he will make one member from both families as witness for their court marriage. ShiVi are surprised and wonder how that is possible. Janardhan tells ShiVi to leave the execution part to him and he will take care. But seeing the specimen piece Rishita, Shiva doubts Janardhan and tells Raavi it would be better if they keep Jaanu and Rishita out of the court marriage matter. But Raavi being the bestie of Rishita trusts her and Janu completely and assures Shiva that everything will be fine. They discuss and fix the marriage in the next week. Janardhan collects the family details of ShiVi and ask them to bring certain documents on the day of marriage.

Next day....

Janardhan comes to Prafulla's house in the guise of US Visa agent and lures her with fake stories about successful VISA applications processed by him. Prafulla thinks that her Bogilal only has come in the guise of Janardhan to take her to America. Jagat warns her not to trust random people. But Prafulla's America dream blinds her and she tells everything from her childhood dreams, her break up with Praful Pandya and the legendary history behind the Green Card hanging on the wall in her living room. For a second, Janardhan genuinely feels bad for Prafulla and tells her that when Praful Pandya had decided to leave her she should have approached Janardhan so that he could have done her Court marriage with Praful Pandya. Prafulla exhales and tells Janardhan to forget about the past and enthusiastically tells him about the NRI alliance she got for Raavi and how it is not far for her dream to come true. Janardhan feels bad for Prafulla for one more time thinking that her dream is going to shatter again. But Janardhan's aspirations to hit a century.... i.e. to do 100th court marriage, suppresses his sympathy hormones towards Prafulla and he mercilessly lies to Prafulla that it is better to apply for US VISA in advance so that if she plans a destination marriage for Raavi in US, the VISAs will be ready by the time of the marriage. Prafulla is overwhelmed by Janardhan's gyan and she feeds him a sumptuous lunch prepared by her. Janardhan enjoys the lunch very much and feels sad that he won't get any more chance to eat that delicious lunch once Prafulla finds out the truth. He doesn't fail to curse Rishita's mother for her horrible cooking which he believes drove Rishita towards computers. Finally Janardhan gets the signature of Prafulla and Jagat in ShiVi's Court marriage application disguising it as US Visa Application and bids farewell to her with heavy heart and leaves. Prafulla keeps looking at the trailing image of Janardhan with gratitude and happy tears in her eyes. She goes into her la la land and imagines that Statue of Liberty is running towards Prafulla in slow motion with the back ground song

Janardhan assigns to Rishita the responsibility of obtaining the signature of one witness from Pandya Parivaar in the marriage application of ShiVi. So Rishita goes to Pandya Store where she is received by Dev with brotherly love. Dev thinks that Rishita is a customer who has come to buy some grocery.

Dev: Boliye behenji kya chahiye aapko

Rishita (offended): behenji nahi.... Rishita 5G

Dev: Rishita ji

Rishita: 5G

Dev: Rishita ji ji ji ji ji....kya chahiye aapko?

Rishita rolls her eyes

Rishita: bhai saab aap rehene deejiye. behenji hi teek hai

Dev: Teek hai behenji. aap ko kya chahiye

Rishita: aap hi chahiye.

Dev is shocked and stammers: lagta hai ki aap galat jagah pe aagaye. Hum idhar woh wala business nahi karte hai

Rishita: hello...main kuch aisi waisi ladki nahi hu. main aap se kuch madad maangne aayi hu

Dev: Yaha madad bhi nahi bej the. aap jayiye

Rishita: shhhhhhh...

Dev goes mute. Finally Rishita lies to Dev that she is getting married to her boyfriend in Court as her gunda father is against love marriages and she wants Dev to be a witness for the marriage by signing some papers. Dev is astonished by Rishita's request and literally shivering in fear. Rishita tries to convince him by saying that there is no risk involved in the matter as her father is going to hit a century in doing court marriages. Dev is hell confused as to why she has to ask his help if her father himself did 99 court marriages. He replies to Rishita that marriage itself is a sin and doing that without the knowledge of family members is mega sin. Rishita promises him that later she will buy him Surf Excel to wash all his sins and insists him to sign the papers. Dev is still not signing. Rishita tries to catch his hand to at least get his thumb impression on the marriage application. Dev keeps moving backward. At the right moment Rishita catches Dev's hand with hers. That is it. A current passes through Dev's body but all other things on the planet stop... earth stops rotating, trees stop swaying, river stop flowing, waves stop running, wind stop blowing, bicycles, two wheelers, cars, city buses, metro trains, aero planes, Ships stop moving, clocks stop ticking, wifi stops working and finally the blood inside Dev's body stops flowing.

Dev’s body is frozen by Rishita’s touch. But his brain is still in active mode and he starts singing Hanuman Chalisa out of reflex

“Jai Hanuman gyan gun sagar Jai Kapis tihun lok ujagar....

Rishita is shocked by Dev’s song selection for the situation and she immediately releases his hand from her hold not wanting to earn the wrath of Lord Hanuman for violating the izzat of his bakt. But Dev keeps singing with his eyes closed the Hanuman Chalisa with full devotion. Rishita is anxiously waiting for him to finish so that she can get his signature. But there is no sign of Dev stopping. He is drowned deep in Hanuman Chalisa. Having lost the hope that Dev will ever stop singing Hanuman Chalisa in this life, Rishita leaves the place with disappointment as she couldn’t obtain his signature.

At Janardhan’s haveli...

Janardhan is very angry on Rishita for not getting the signature of Pandya parivaar member on the marriage application of ShiVi. He boasts how easily he got the signatures of Prafulla and Jagat. He tells Rishita that the sumptuous lunch hosted by Prafulla is a testimony to his acting skills. Rishita explains that had she stayed in Pandya store for a little longer Dev would have converted her into a Hanuman devotee. Janardhan replies that being Hanuman bakt is better than being a computer geek. He asks her to go back to Pandya Store to get the signature of Dev after he finishes his Hanuman Chalisa. Janardhan warns Rishita that if she again comes back empty handed without obtaining the signature then he will not let her inside the haveli. Rishita asks Janardhan if she has to pack her luggage and food for a few days as she didn’t think that Dev will stop singing the Hanuman Chalisa in the near future. Janardhan suggests that in that case she can kidnap Dev to their haveli so that it will be easier for them to get his signature as soon as he stops singing Hanuman Chalisa.

At Pandya store......

Rishita comes back to get the signature of Dev but he is not there. Rishita peeps inside to check and Gaumbi pops up from the counter. Rishita is relieved that Dev is not there singing Hanuman Chalisa. She tells Gaumbi the same lie that she had said to Dev and requests him to sign the marriage application. Gaumbi advises her to get married to her boy friend with the consent of her parents. Rishita lies to him that her father will kill her boyfriend if he comes to know about the love matter and that is why she wants to marry her boy friend secretly. Gaumbi offers to talk to Janardhan but Rishita refuses that idea saying that she doesn’t want to risk her boy friend’s life. Finally Gaumbi signs ShiVi’s marriage application which Rishita disguised as her marriage application. Rishita is super duper happy and she promises Gaumbi that she will name her next video game after Gaumbi. Gaumbi is overwhelmed by Rishita’s promise and wishes her for her Court marriage and good future.

Finally ShiVi’s court marriage application is complete with signature of Gaumbi, Prafulla, Jagath and Rishita as the witnesses.

Meanwhile ShiVi are busy shopping their wedding dresses.

After a week......

Finally the date fixed for ShiVi’s court marriage arrives. Janardhan has made all the arrangements for ShiVi’s Court marriage by bribing his friend in the District court. He didn’t fail to collect the bribe amount along with interest & profit margin from ShiVi. When Rishita told Janardhan not to collect any money from ShiVi, Janardhan convinced her saying that he will give a cash back coupon which ShiVi can use to buy some grocery from his own shop.

At Pandya Niwas.....

Shiva gets ready in his wedding dress and comes to the living room where all the family members are chit chatting. They all look at Shiva with their mouth wide opened.

Krish: dulhe ki tarah taiyar hoke kaha jaraha tu?

As Shiva feels little guilty about the court marriage decision he decides not to tell any lies if not the truth to his family today.

Shiva: court marriage karne jaraha hu. Gavaah banega?

Hearing the word ‘court marriage’ both Gaumbi and Dev recall Rishita. Gaumbi wonders when Rishita will release the Video Game that would be named after him. Dev recalls how current passed through his body when Rishita held his hand. The mere thought about Rishita’s touch makes Dev’s heart skip a beat. Thanks to the bollywood movies he watched, Dev imagines Rishita running towards him in slow motion holding out her saree pallu with one hand making it float in the air. When Rishita is about to cover Dev’s face with her saree pallu, Hanumanji jumps into action and plays Hanuman Chalisa in Dev’s head making Rishita run backward. Dev closes his eyes in devotion cum disappointment.

Krish thinks that Shiva is joking about court marriage.

Krish: kash teri ye mazaak sach hota. Kam se kam mera line tho clear hojata

Shiva rolls his eyes. Gaumbi hits on Krish’s head

Gaumbi: pehle arrears clear karle phir tera line clear karne ke bare me sochega

Krish: koshish tho kar rahu....par....

Suman: ab ki baar arrears clear nahi hoga tho tu is ghar se clear hojayga.

Krish goes mute by Suman’s threat.

Dhara: Shiva tum kisi dost ke shaadi me ja rahe ho. Haina?

This is why Shiva loves Dhara a lot. She always asks questions with inbuilt answers. Shiva reasons out to himself that as Raavi is his friend too, logically he is going to attend his friend’s marriage as her bridegroom. So he answers Dhara in affirmative.

Shiva: haan bhabhi. meri khash dost ki shaadi me jaraha hu

Dhara: is kapade me bohut acha lag rahe ho.

Shiva: Thanks bhabhi

Krish: ek minute.....ye kapade kab karida tune?

Shiva: jab Raavi ke sath shopping gayana tab

Everyone except Krish are shocked by Shiva’s words. But Krish thinks that Shiva is joking again.

Krish: phir se mazaak? Tu aur Raavi sath me shopping gaye the? Kis janam me?

Everyone else also think that Shiva is just pulling Krish’s legs and smile.

Shiva mutters under his breath “gharwalon ne mera har baat ko mazaak samajh rahe hai.is se jyada aur kaise sach batau inhe?”

Dhara: jaldi chalo Shiva varna shaadi ke liye late hojayga

Shiva gets emotional and he takes aashirvad from Suman and GauRa by touching their feet.

Suman: arey Shiva! Tera shaadi me todi jaraha hai ki aashirvad le rahe ho?

Shiva is shocked.

Shiva: Maa woh...

Krish: rehene de Maa. Dev ke vajah se Shiva ke shaadi kabi hoga hi nahi. Isiliye tho bechara apni dost ki shaadi pe aashirwad le raha hai.

Everyone turn to Dev whose eyes are still closed in devotion cum disappointment and Rishita is still running backwards in his imagination.

Krish: dev ko tho shaadi ka shabd bhi bardast nahi hota. Dekh Maa! Kaise aankhen ko band karke baitha hai

Suman: par aankhein kyu? Kaanon ko band karni chahiye na?

Krish: kaanon me Hanuman Chalisa bhajna shru hogaya hoga maa! Isiliye

Everyone shake their head hopelessly at Dev without knowing about his inner struggle.

Shiva’s phone rings and it is Raavi on the line. He picks up the call

Shiva: Bolo Raavi
