I'm feeling too lazy to search a thread and write it up,so I'm making a separate post for this.

There has been this slight debate on who's the better saas and mother- Jayati or Sharda?

I'd say both have their own virtues and flaws. And comparing Jayati and Sharda is like comparing apples with oranges. Ab kisiko apple zyada pasand hai,aur kisi ko orange.

Let's start with Jaya amma here. Well, I'm pretty sure she's everyone's favorite now after the whole drinking fiasco. Of course, she has proved herself to be the coolest MIL in this show and pretty much in the entire ITV land. But let's rewind a bit. Let's bring Raghav and her past relationship. It was turbulent. She didn't trust her own son and thought the worse of him. In fact, she'd still be miffed with her son if Pallavi didn't take the time and make her understand what Raghav actually went through.

Something that she herself being a mother couldn't see. She couldn't look beyond her grief. Chalo, agar aisa hai, then why would she force her son to marry Pallavi? When the whole jewellery fiasco happened and VD accused Raghav of framing him, Jayati said Raghav is capable of doing sth like this,he has done things like this to Pallavi, in the past. So,she thought her own son is a despicable man while she has always admired Pallavi since the beginning. Then why forcefully bring that girl into your demon son's life? To fix him? What if he didn't treat Pallavi well? What if he was emotionally abusive to her during their marriage? You can threaten your son to marry a girl of your choice but how much can you control his marital life to make sure that both of them are doing well?Ye sab toh tab socha hi nahi. And phir jab the relationship between you and your son mended, tab jaake yaad aaya this girl is being held into a marriage against her wish, isse jaane dena chahiye. Jayati Rao has her own charms but she has some major character flaws as well.

On the other hand, there's Sharda Deshmukh, wife of our dearest Sanki Buddha, mother of Mr.India aka Mandaar Deshmukh. When her son was gone, she held onto this girl who just entered their threshold. Responsibilities, guilt aur sympathy ke nichey Pallu ke apne sapne and ambitions dab gaye. Phir bhi,she was a mother figure to her. Even though her stance wasn't enough, she took a stand for her against VD as she couldn't do the same for her late son. That's 90% of our mothers in desi household. My mother isn't always successful in protecting me from my father's wrath but she keeps trying.

You all saw Sharda wiping away the henna in Pallavi's hands with RR initials, but that was her symbolic way of keeping Pallu away from the guy that was troubling her. Sharda was the first one to realize Raghav was a good husband after he barged in D house to clarify accusations against Pallu- neither Jaya, nor Pallavi realised at that point. Sharda was genuinely happy and emotional about Pallavi's vat savitri for Raghav. And yes, there's a possibility that all of these might change. There's a possibility that she becomes an antagonist in Raghvi story. Maybe tab as a RaghVi fan, I'd be one of those who'd be ranting against her.

Par can you actually blame her if she decides to go against the man who's involved in her son's death+disappearance?

Definitely both can't be compared at all and shouldn't be they both are different relations totally

They both play pivotal roles in her life and I wish they both keep doing that come what may .

She needs both their support ❤️

Both have their own flaws and their own charm!! But the question here is who is the better MIL in comparison to each other and here I think Jaya wins hands down!! Whatever maybe her relation with her own son she never mistreated or distrusted Pallavi . She cares about Pallavi more than own son till now also and is constantly egging Raghav to become a better husband for Pallavi and even treating Pallavi like her own daughter. There is really very few MIL in society who treats their DIL like their own daughter and pamper them. Jaya is one of the few of those rare specimen of MIL who pampers her just like she does to her own daughter Keerthi. She considers Pallavi as a kid rather than her bahu because she is young and child like which might have reminded her of her own married life as she was also married too young to Raghav's nana and was as childish like Pallavi.

While Sharda I think her care for Pallavi is because of her dependency on her as after Mandar's death she was alone in the Deshmukh house with a husband like Vijay Deshmukh or SIL like Sulochana or nieces like Mansi or Amrutha she was alone in the house and then Pallavi became her support and her reason to live as she reminded her of his dead son as Pallavi as Mandar's widow was last strand of memory for Sharda to hold on to of Mandar. She always kept quite when Pallavi was mistreated and never took a stand for her and yes she did take sometimes a stand but nothing changed as her stance was not powerful enough to warn people off and she never shared the Pallavi's burden or her misery or suffering as a widow and never had a heart to heart with her. When Vijay Deshmukh was constantly making questions on Pallavi's character she never raised her voice enough to stop Vijay or his accusations and when Pallavi was thrown out of the house in middle of night she was then also a mute spectator. She herself told Pallavi to move on in life but she is the one who still wants to attach Pallavi with the Deshmukh still as when she saw Pallavi is perfectly moving on in life with Raghav and is in love with him she felt threatened as if Pallavi forgets Mandar then she will also lose her last strand of memory of her deceased son. If Mandar was alive and doing well would she still consider Pallavi as her own daughter rather than a bahu.

Very well said. Most people are not really seeing the characters as a whole but changing their narrative daily based on the scene. Others are just making assumptions that sharda would do something in future which will bring trouble in Raghvi-land. Because it suits the Rao being better for Pallavi narrative and hence Raghav being automatically a better choice for Pallavi compared to mandhar. Guys I mean it’s not a competition going on, it’s their life- they will figure out. Let’s just enjoy the show as it goes ❤️

Sharda is bounded by a man in her life. Jaya isn't hence she can do more than S could ever dream.

Ye bhi sahi hai. I just didn't like people blindly bashing Sharda. Vo Jaya nahi hai,but till now she has been a constant anchor in Pallavi's life.

@bold: I'd give her that for now. It's not like she actually doesn't want her to move on with Raghav but has a fear of detachment from Pallavi(this is actually sth 90% of grooms' mothers feel after their son gets married yaha pe role reversal hai)

Par aage if she tries to separate Pals from Raghav after Mandar track, toh I'm against her as a RaghVi fan.
