Yes, In north India , most weddings are evening weddings. The varmala happens and then there is gap of 2-3 hours between varmala and phere( muharat is for pheras). Most guest bless the couple with their presence in Varmala, socialize, eat dinner and leave. Only family and close friends attend pheras which is 2-3 hour affair.

Oh That’s good to know.. Varmala seems to be more like the reception . In south desi weddings.. depending on each state the customs vary.. but they are mighty long and usually the muhurats are late night or early morning. So they usually host a reception in the evening with the varmala exchange for the guests to come and bless, eat and leave like you said. The actual marriage goes on for a few hours with lots of rituals /games.

I’m also surprised to see the TRPs today to see there’s no change. I find it hard to believe that streaming the show on hot star and tv multiple times by multiple people bought no effect on the TRPs. Definitely there is something shady going on with this. 100%. But I thought fans meant everything. Yet they are being ignored
