It's not as common as India but domestic workers are still a pretty significant portion of the labor force in China. It is clustered around your larger metropolises, so you would not see it in rural China or even smaller cities. They tend to be migrant rural women and their general living and work conditions are pretty deplorable. As I said, In the end it also has a lot to do with social/cultural factors, basically your caste hierarchy in India and a very similar class structure in Philippines.

PPP - Purchasing Power Parity ...one dollar in Bangladesh will not buy the same amount of goods and services in another country. The cost of living varies from country to country. That is why GDP based on purchasing power parity (PPP) is used.

India's per capita GDP at PPP is USD 6,284 and Bangladesh's USD 5,139.


Not sure where you are going with this because the 7k USD figure is still pretty abysmal. The fabled demographic dividend led economic boom has never taken place and the growth rates are continuously faltering. The current government has been just as incompetent with regards to policy and structural changes as the preceding ones and no amount of posturing is going to change that.
