Till Forever Falls Apart
“Flectere si nequeo superos, Acheronta movebo.”
(If I cannot bend the will of Heaven, I shall move Hell.)
A burst of energy explodes through all of existence. The holiest of the holy and the evilest of the evils have been alerted. An abomination has come into being.
Anokhi never thought she would care so much about something so…so tiny. Her life, it’s been long. Lucifer was brought into existence way before the universe and all of creation happened. And she was only a century younger than him. He was a weird guy if someone were to ask her. So, her life, all a thousand something billion years of it (she’s lost count honestly) passed with the most sinister of sins. She was not always like this. She used to be up there; with the angels sitting on clouds, playing the strings of the harp with their good for nothing halos with the feathers of her widespread majestic wings always getting in her face.
And then He fell. And with Him fell the angels into hellfire.
She remembers the excruciating agony she experienced when she felt the sinister fire burn through her grace, polluting her, corrupting her. She swore to never fraternize with the other side when she saw the mighty gates of Heaven close as she fell into the pits of Hell. Heaven was never hers, she realized. God was never on their side.
She stuck by it. Hell is her own and Heaven is not. The Devil sheltered her while God banished. But she never knew that she would cross paths with a stuck-up, confused, and holier-than-thou (quite literally) Angel of the Lord; Shaurya.
Shaurya was as old as time itself. It hurt when he saw his brother, Lucifer fall. What a mighty fall it was. Graceful. His family has always been messy; as families often are. An overworking dad with more kids than he could handle. Shaurya loved his brothers; the archangels but he respected his father; God more. So when Heaven lit up with the fires of the battle between Lucifer and Michael, Shaurya was too a coward to go against. And thus, Hell was born.
He never thought he would be running from all of creation, with a feisty, sinful, gorgeous and one of the darkest souls to ever exist, with her hand in his own and their baby in her womb.
The child has been an abomination since the second it was conceived. A creature more powerful than the forces of Heaven and Hell combined doesn’t quite sit right with either party. Where the God wishes to exterminate the baby demon-angel hybrid from all existence, Satan wants to control it.
But for the child to be born, Anokhi must die. So, how was Shaurya supposed to focus on his enemies, when his own child was becoming his biggest one?
An apocalyptic supernatural thriller produced by Dharma Productions and directed by Ashutosh Gowarikar starring Debattama Saha as Anokhi, Karanvir Sharma as Shaurya and Hitesh Bharadwaj as Lucifer.

When she wakes, it is pitch dark and the train has come to a standstill near a forest. A man knocks at her window, requesting medicine for his ailing friend. As she moves to the door to hand it over, Anokhi is enthralled by the beauty of a stream ahead. Alone in the world, she sits by the stream, wishing for true love. When she tries to move, Anokhi finds her foot caught in the waters. The train leaves without her.
Terrified, Anokhi runs into a mysterious man called Shaurya, who offers help till a nearby hamlet. Out of options, Anokhi follows him till a lit-up bridge. In the light, she is shocked to see Shaurya’s handsome face marked with a wicked glowing scar. He tells her about the time he ran away with his newly wed wife. They jumped into the river to escape their families. He lost her to the currents that day and was himself butchered for marrying a girl from an enemy tribe. As Anokhi doubts his sanity, Shaurya reveals that he is a spirit and the answer to her earlier wish. He promises that she will never be cold or hungry again.
Shaurya slowly begins to woo a frightened Anokhi and takes her on a magical adventure through the river waters. He makes her laugh and soothes her grief till she is charmed into sharing a night of passion.
As it nears dawn, Shaurya disappears from a sleeping Anokhi's side, materializing in the train compartment, where her body lies cold and lifeless. In flashbacks, it is revealed that Shaurya is Death himself, a spectre of Ramgarh that helps souls pass into a dark secret space called the Void. Having been brutally murdered by his father and losing his wife 300 years ago, he existed without emotion till he saw Anokhi at a funeral and begins to yearn for her. It is said that Death begins to feel when it is time for the spirit to shed the mantle and move on.
Last night, when tasked to collect the soul of a man on the train, he was suddenly summoned to Anokhi’s side as she breathed her last. When efforts to save her failed, Shaurya vowed to keep her soul in the spirit realm till it was time for him to pass too. He prays for Anokhi to fall in love with him and wants to rule Ramgarh with her at his side.
In the end, as the sun rises over the horizon, Shaurya disappears into the Void.

Winter’s Moon
The story begins on a dark wintry night in Devgarh. Shaurya Sabherwal is driving down a mountain road, talking to his mother on call. After attending a conference, he is in a rush to reach his sister’s engagement. His mother is worried as it’s inauspicious to travel on an Amavasya (no moon night). She makes him promise to not stop for anyone on the roads as many men have disappeared from the area in the past 6 months.
Pegging her words as superstition, Shaurya puts on his favourite song Ek Ladki Bheegi Bhaagi Si,and enjoys the drive. As the song reaches its chorus, a bird flies past his car, making him break in fright. As he looks out, he sees an owl staring at him from atop a tree. When he looks ahead, he gets another scare. A woman, dressed in a bridal lehenga, stands in front of his car.
Despite his promise, Shaurya approaches the woman. Introducing herself as Anokhi, she tells him that she ran away from her wedding and pleads for a ride to escape her cruel father and brother. Shaurya agrees to help, only to find himself enamored by the hauntingly seductive Anokhi. She pushes a hesitant Shaurya to make love to her. He holds back out of gentlemanly reticence, but eventually gives in. They share unabashed sexual pleasure-pain in the middle of the foggy road.
In the aftermath, Shaurya and Anokhi savor tender moments, bonding over their love of Hindi classics. Suddenly, she turns intense, warning Shaurya not to tell anyone about this experience and that he is special, unlike any man she met before. As Anokhi tries to leave, a confused Shaurya tries to stop her. She explains that her mind has changed about the ride and that she would confront her situation. Further Anokhi warns that if he tries to know more about her, he will fall in love.
On his lonely drive ahead, Shaurya can’t stop thinking about her. Just then, something catches his eye. He steps outside, noticing boards littered with news snippets about an honour killing case. The woman in the picture was Anokhi Bhalla, who ran away from her wedding 6 months ago and was never heard of again. Knowing her story leaves Shaurya shattered. He realizes that he has irrevocably fallen in love, just like Anokhi had foretold. He begins to question the whole experience and his own sanity.
The movie ends with flashbacks of Anokhi after her ill fated escape. It is revealed that a stranger on the roads molested and betrayed her, throwing her into the clutches of her murderous family. The ending still is of Anokhi as a demoness killing evil men on Amavasya.

I remember
The story is set in the year 1924 in the small village of Hoshiyarpur, Punjab. Tej Sabherwal, the panchayet and head of the Sabherwal family who are the rulers of the village since generations is on the look out for a bride for his nephew and heir of family, Shaurya. Bilayet returned, poised and prideful just like his name, he fell in love at first sight with the village belle Anokhi. Not wanting to alienate the newly returned son, the family accepted the bride even after having a status difference. Post wedding, a chain of events shook the very core of the family. Tej received an anonymous letter laced with poison and died under mysterious circumstances. Kanchan, the vivacious and heavily pregnant sister in law of Anokhi received a similar letter, miscarried, and ultimately slipped into coma. The younger twin sisters of Shaurya, Kitty -Bebo, received similar letters, but before they could open it, a Thanedaar from Police Station was summoned. Ahir, an old friend of Shaurya, started his investigation. The letters were laced with a variant of plant based poison, and he created a suspect list, including the new bride, Anokhi, her Father Ramesh who had a shady past, his son in law Vineet who was a convict himself and Shaurya’s obsessive ex mistress Shagun . Shaurya defended Anokhi passionately, the two men even got into a physical fight. The plot thickened when in the presence of Anokhi, the family received another letter-this time for the newly widowed Devi. Baid ji was called, but due to rapid spread of poison half of her body became paralyzed. Due to Anokhi’s presence during the letters, which contained the words,” I remember”, she was kept nazar band in the Sabherwal mansion. But another letter arrived. Before Gayatri, the older sister in law of Devi could touch it, Ahir saved her. Anokhi was acquitted, and everyone dreaded for the next letter. But no letters came for months, and leads dried out.
Months later, ACP Ahir was invited to the Godh bhaarai ceremony of Anokhi. He and Shaan Sabherwal, Shaurya’s senile Father shared conversations. The former casually said,‘I remember’ making the Thanedaar pause, but figuring it to be a used term and him being a murderer a far fetched thing, he walked away from the Sabherwal family’s life.
The near future shows Shaurya Sabherwal smothering his wife Anokhi Sabherwal to death using a pillow, and handing over their new born baby boy to Devi. Shaan looks on, his eyes hard. A flashback revealed how he was tasked to do the same to his wife, Astha, 25 years ago, but when he failed, Tej Sabherwal killed her using the same technique. Devi, using her working left hand, cradled the baby closer to her, eerily similar to how she had done to baby Shaurya once upon a time.

Anokhi pick Ahir, her cousin who is an officer in Narcotics, corrupt to the core with links to underworld. They reached destination and parted ways, and Shaurya thought nothing of it for the whole summer until, one day, he receives the news of Shagun being dead by a regular hit and run. During cremation, he could swear it was Anokhi looking at his oddly from the flames. Out of his wits, he confronted her the next day, and was horrified when, eerily calm, Anokhi confessed that it was her who killed Shagun due to their ‘murder pact’, and now Shaurya needed to do the same to ‘clear debt’. With a stern warning and threat of sending her to prison, Shaurya left, but he was restless. He started to have hallucination- Shagun’s pictures looked like they were moved or bleeding, he sometimes heard her laughter and have nightmares where Shagun’s corpse accuse him of murdering her. He started to miss days and got disciplinary action in SIAC. Anokhi found him, and despite Shaurya trying to be firm on his stand, convinced him to finish the ‘murder pact’ as that’s the only way he can move forward. Desperate to absolve himself of this guilt, he agreed, and makes plan to meet Ahir one day on the pretense of talking about drug problem among SIAC students. The two meet, and Shaurya spiked Ahir’s drink, and watched him leave. The next day, the city is shaken with the news of a Narcotics officer’s murder, and soon afterwards it’s revealed that Ahir was an evil man with links to politicians and high end people. Shaurya is also part of suspect list as he was the last person to see Ahir alive. It’s revealed that he met Ahir with the false news of SIAC students having drug problems, hence he’s suspended and jailed for misconduct. The poison he mixed in Ahir’s drink was found in his house, hence Shaurya was charged with murder. In prison, Anokhi comes to meet him, and in a fit of rage, he chokes her to death, accusing her to be the real culprit. As policemen and doctors take her body away, Shaurya sinks into madness, watching with horror at the mess he had created.

Then they find that the dish prepared by Aastha also had rat poison; a rat died after consuming it. Anokhi and Shaurya start to interrogate people unofficially. They find a suspicious pharmacist who was also present at the crime scene. Only his pharmacy sold that kind of rat poison that killed the chef. No customer had recently bought it from his shop. The police arrest the pharmacist and withdraw the charges against Rama. Rama returns home, and Aastha apologizes to Rama. Shaurya and Anokhi go out to celebrate the occasion. They discover that the man who was following them had surreptitiously poisoned their plates for trying to foil his plans. Shaurya runs after the man while Anokhi calls the police. It turns out that the man is a harmless looking school teacher who once harboured dreams of becoming a chef. The chef, who had become the judge for the competition, had crushed that man's dreams when he had offered to apprentice under the chef. Heartbroken and burning with anger, the man avenged the chef for his arrogance when he gave others what he had denied him, hopes and dreams of becoming a chef. The man stole the rat poison from the pharmacist's shop and added it to the dishes of the top contestants.
