Chapter 48

Kirti is at her lowest low, yet she is trying to gather the pieces of her broken heart and move on. I wish Shruti and her Dadi would just leave her alone and give her some time off from their sermons & emotional blackmail respectively. I know they mean well and only want the best for her. But forcing her to do something she is not ready for is cruel. Dadi may be in the dark, but Shruti knows everything about Kirti. At least she should have tried to understand where Kirti is coming from. I agree with @canapoem; Shruti can be very straightforward. But sometimes it's more important to be understanding than be right.

What Kirti said is so true and sad. If the guy approves Kirti, her opinion won't even matter. If there is so much drama just because she was refusing to meet the guy, I can only imagine the theatrics if she refuses the rishta.

The guy in question seems decent - well mannered, good conversationalist, respects her choices & opinions. He is aware of her responsibilities and willing to share them. I also liked the fact that he thought about her convenience when he decided the venue. Nothing seems off about him on paper; but we have been taught to be wary of every guy that enters Kirti's life. Even if he is the good guy that we think he is, will he ever be good for Kirti? After all he is not...

P.S.- Couldn't connect the title. Does it suggest Gautam is just one of the many suitors Kirti would be meeting?

Nishit is being egoistic or is he conscious about his reputation in the society and are those the reasons on how he is behaving or treating Kirti? Either way the guy is confused and losing out on what he longs all the time..his behavior towards Kirti is because of jealousy or a feeling of unrequited love? I hope he is not a fool and realizes before he looses her completely. He is already on her bad books for treating her brother bad and for all those times in the past he has let her down..he has not been honest with her.

gautam looks genuine and want to treat kirti the right way. It will be interesting to see what Kirti will do. If she still holding a candle for her Nishit, it will be hard for her.

Strange life isn't it.

If this rishta from Gautam had come before Kirti met Nishit again and started to have feelings for him, maybe Kirti would have looked at Gautam form a whole different perspective.

Somewhere I had read that "Life is fair as it is unfair to everyone".

Not sure how life has been unfair to others in this story, but life surely has been unfair to Kirti.

chapter 45

Kirti's father might have been well meaning but to tell Kirti that she could only hang out with high achievers was the wrong message. In his quest for a better future for her, he just managed to bring her trouble.

48 II

After agreeing with Kirti about the dowery and looking after her grandmother and brother, Gautam and his family rejected the rishta. Karuna is devastated and wishing she was dead. Shruti apologised to Kirti for persuading to see the fat Gautam.

The friends sat and talked about how real-life was not like reel life where the unlikely hero and heroine, meet, fight, fall in love and marry.

Sana came to see Kirti and told her that Tejas wanted to marry her. She told Kirti that she should refuse him because Tejas had feelings for her/Sana.

Seems Sana too has feelings for Tejas.

Kirti went to see Tejas and asked him to marry her as he said he wanted to marry her.

Isn’t it girls fate even today..the crappy ideas of where women are treated with no self esteem even in her own family when it comes to marriage..like she is no one of value when it comes to guys. I hope it’s changing but I don’t know.

kirti stood up well for herself but then she got carried away with her emotions and went and proposed..who did she ask? Hope not tejas or Mayank..Shruti’s heart would break if it’s Mayank and if it’s Tejas- sana is right she will be always his second choice and he will also take her for granted. She doesn’t need a man if only karuna understands her better.

I will assume Kirti is analytical and can parse information and draw logical conclusions. This is not because she got good ranks in her exams this is based on her dialogue with Nishit when they were discussing the Indian economy. She did not just blindly follow articles that she read but used her own analysis to draw conclusions and argue with him.

So when Gautam claimed that he told his parents he was against dowry and his parents still asked for dowry means that either parents word is law in their house or he was lying. So all that he promised to her will not hold.

If she paused to reflect at their conversation I am sure she would have realized it. She should have rejected him rather than waiting to be ghosted. Men dont have all rights...you are giving it to them..by turning a blind eye to the obvious !

One can say that she is under emotional pressure from her Dadi ...hearing this I am sure hurts.

"is not easy to find good alliances. Nobody wants to marry an orphan. Her education and career credentials are also not so sterling. Beauty? Good Natured? Nobody wants that today. Money is what speaks.’

But it is the same Dadi who believes that using your left hand to serve is inauspicious. Dadi is loving, has raised them but that does not mean she is right and fault less.

It is her life. A marriage is more than physical relation,kids..it is life spent together. Her knee jerk reaction since her fallout with Nishit -proposing marriage to ?...is just doing stuff that will hurt her in the long run.

Anyway like she advised Nishit to take ownership of actions..she should do the same. For starters maybe forget about marriage to please others and society. Forget about the men she knows and focus on herself and what she wants.

Society and folks around will not change, she cannot make it happen. But she does have control over her own actions. Make changes in her own behavior..reject marrying men she is not really interested in..to appease Dadi or her false pride . Shruti friendship rant that hurts her for another day 😊

Glad Kirti decided to keep her friendship with Shivani. She would have regretted it later otherwise.
