I have a feeling he is going to be very attentive to her and extra observant of everything she says and even more of what she doesn't say.

I'd love to see them have real conversations, not intervened or impeded by a third person. A relationship like this only survives when the trust is between the two people involved. Yes, he is going to now try to go all out to try to amend his wrongs, and that will be worth watching for sure.
