I need some time to recover from the episode. I loved it from start to finish, not only because of the story progressing but also because they revealed more about Raghav's background. I think until the sort out their location issues they won't open up Pallavi's past. It becomes too complicated to shoot.
Raghav ki to 360 degrees band baj rahi hai. Firstly he has Farhad getting annoyed and telling him to stop before barging into Amma's house and then his sister comes out yelling at him. Pallavi knew exactly why he was here - even after all this they are still so well-tuned to one another. Raghav approaching Amma's house is like walking up to pearly gates but being denied entry by the 3 ladies.
When Raghav taunted Pallavi about her claims of being a self-respecting person, I loved it that Pallavi reminded him where she learned money lessons from and that she doesn't have to listen to him. Also, loved seeing an FL clarify what being independent and pragmatic actual meant (instead of cringe-inducing mahaanta), and why Raghav deserved it that his money was used to pay hospital bills to do good for a change. Raghav didn't like being reminded of this and even though he doesn't feel remorse he is uncomfortable that his actions affected an unintended victim. You could argue that Rambo's heart attack wasn't his fault but let's park that for now. Well, Raghav, you were the one who was teaching her not to be Raja Harish Chandra's sister... Ab bhugto! Pallavi was throwing Uno Reverse cards at him one after the other and said whatever she was doing or saying was because of what she'd learned from him. Sangat ka asar indeed, ladki bolna seekh gayi hai. 👏
Anna was struggling to understand what was happening and why he was losing this verbal volley, while Amma's eyes were glowing in admiration. Her to-be-bahu was kicking her own son out of her house even though she was a guest there herself.
Amma saw a live demo of Raghav and Pallavi spitting fire at each other, and she realized that Pallavi is a perfect match for her son. I still don't like the fact that she didn't bother to think that even if Raghav said yes, would Pallavi accept? What would make her say yes to marry such a man? To be fair though, the way she was looking at Raghav and Pallavi fighting was more with the eyes of someone who saw a genuinely good match as opposed to making Raghav marry her to pay for his mistakes.
That new house is going to be an inferno. Did Raghav just say he would never apologize to Pallavi? Well, we all know how that's going to go. Raghav needs to change his ringtone to Zor ka jhatka for Pallavi's calls going forward. Not that I see her interested in calling him for anything.
Pallavi is finally telling BWA that she doesn't care what she thinks and her words won't affect her anymore. Phew, about time! Raghav is trying to recover his money but that's already in Rambo's blood stream in the form of medicine and other treatment. 😆
Raghav seeing his mother sitting on the sofa and nearly tripping over himself with shock and happiness was just hilarious but heart-touching. One moment he's yelling at someone the phone to stop the check from being cashed and next thing he's a little kid unable to contain his joy. Farhad was being such a drama queen, leading his Anna to the surprise instead of telling him. Raghav touching his mother to see if she really was there and acting like a 5-year-old was just aww.... The way he excitedly asked Farhad to bring her tea and biscuits was again so endearing. I know we saw the BTS but it came out really well in the actual scene. All throughout you could see the deference Raghav has in his eyes for this mother in the way he sat at her feet, hands on her knees, the way he responded to her comments about the photo's alignment, etc. How does this character make you feel for him even after the despicable things he's done lately? Sai was amazing in this entire sequence.
I loved the scene where he was bewildered, trying to keep up with his mother when she suggested changes to the house and following her around like a lost puppy. I loved that she even told him to place a table next to the window for Keerti so that she wouldn't become irritable. She's such a boss lady (and so's her daughter), and Raghav was agreeing to fix whatever she asked him to but was so shocked to see her take an interest in anything related to him... little did he know at that point that Amma was just prepaing the house for her DIL. His happiness knew no bounds when Amma told him they would move in. It was so lovely to see Raghav smile in pure joy, with tears of happiness in his eyes at the thought of his long-running dream coming true. I'm trying to remember if we've ever seen Raghav this happy on the show.
He said they would renovate it so I'm hoping it means they will go back to our beloved RR mansion again at some point or at least they'll redo the gaudy interiors of this one (that sofa really needs to go!).
Raghav's immediate reaction to Amma's demand was to assume that Pallavi had sweet talked his mother into it. This is him going on with self-deception because he knows full well that she'd never want to marry him, but it's easier to blame her again and calling her a gold-digger who's after his money. (Well, she will be, kind of, but not in the way he thinks. Glad Amma cut him off from going on a rampage again. Tu Raghav Rao to main teri Amma. I was expecting a slap but she grabbed his collar instead.
Props to Raghav for turning down his mother's demand and then trying to explain that he would never ever marry Pallavi.
He said he wanted to have her hanged. I know it was just said in anger, and I'm sure if it were a man instead of Pallavi, Raghav would have indeed had him hanged. The thought of his mother siding with her was enough to make him want to burn everything around him.
Amma breathing fire at Raghav and reminding Farhad of his duties, was a treat to watch. She ridiculed Raghav for his stupidity and reminded him she was his mother and not easily fooled, and that she wasn't going to waste time trying to help him understand his mistakes. I am really glad they had Amma telling Farhad that being a silent spectator to injustice was no less than a sin. That triggered him alright! Amma is going to teach these boys a lot of lessons, from the looks of it. Raghav recommending that Telegu actress even though she sounded like another chipku ladki made me laugh because we all know that she wouldn't be the right type for him. After his experience with a woman like Pallavi, all other women would fall short. He may not admit it but I think he knows it deep down. He was even willing to give up all his wealth and gangster lifestyle to have his Amma and Keerti at home, and apologize to Akash. There was venom in his voice when he again refused to marry Pallavi and I was still trying to understand the source of it. Amma refusing to move into his house broke his heart again.
I want more such episodes filled with Raos! I loved the way Raghav alternated between a little kid excited to finally have what he wants and the Don who wanted nothing more than to keep taking revenge. I think all these games with Pallavi are a way to keep her engaged and have something in his life. He is so lonely that he's even will to carry on with this game because at least the hatred and anger makes him feel something.
Was Raghav really planning to shoot Pallavi? I doubt it, but at that moment his brain had stopped working. Farhad getting Amma's scolding finally prompted him to explode and show his Anna the mirror. Man, in his anger Farhad revealed a lot of private details about Raghav that we didn't know before - crying holding Amma's sari, wearing Keerti's old rakhis, writing about the little happy moments in his life in his diary (which I hope Pallavi stumbles upon one day) etc. Someone please tell Farhad that the heart is on the left side, not right. Like Raghav, I was surprised by Farhad's explosive anger, but I can't blame him, he's been holding it in for a long time. It also tells you exactly why Raghav and he are like brothers. Very few could stand up to Raghav like he did today, rendering him speechless, and he was almost relieved to be able to finally let out his pent up anger and frustration at seeing his Anna self-destruct.
Farhad was the voice of the audience, and in a way Raghav's conscience, telling Raghav that he was doing things without thinking about the consequences and blaming Pallavi for anything and everything. Himanshu was just brilliant, and I loved that scene. He managed to convey his own rage at Raghav but somehow still had concern for his Anna shining in his eyes. I also felt that he was also giving Raghav some sort of ultimatum, appealing to the Raghav that he admires and highlighting that this was his last chance to fix things before he lost it forever. He reminded him once again what his priorities should be. I just love the passion with which Farhad described all this, shows how he knows his Anna inside out and he knew exactly where to hit Anna with his words: did his Anna want his mother's happiness or his own stubbornness to be top priority? Farhad's words and memories of Pallavi's words about his lonely life were echoing in his head and you could tell that it had the effect of going deep into the wounds he carried to this day.
During the phirni scene, I almost wanted to cry. It was beautifully shot and executed. Sai was just marvelous in that scene, expressing all his emotions just with his eyes, looking like a little kid who finally felt at home. The look on his face when Amma was feeding him and the tears in his yes, were those of a little boy who's come home to his dear mother after all these years. Interestingly, he remembered his mother's sweet and caring nature, which is probably his last memories from when he still used to live with them all those years ago. He longs for that affection, because the Amma he gets nowadays is tough and often cold to him. Amma's visit was the closest he'd come to fulfilling his dream and he knew that by saying no he was going to miss probably the only opportunity to bring his Amma and Keerti home willingly.
The most interesting dialogue was when Raghav was was asking his Amma why she wanted him to bring that woman in his life who would destroy him. He said he hated Pallavi more than he loved his mother and sister, who were the most important in the world, but we know that Pallavi means a lot to him. Otherwise, he wouldn't have been so affected by her. That hatred is just a mask for a much deeper connection that we all want to see developing.
Pleading with Amma not break him like this, not to make him lose his self-respect, he reiterated that he would give her his life if needed. I still feel there is something else beneath the surface that we're not seeing, which prompted him to request her not to break him in a way that he could never be whole again. For someone who is so sure of himself, why would he feel the marriage would destroy him? Clearly he doesn't think Pallavi has any power to harm him in a major way. I think it's inconceivable to him that after all the threats he made to Pallavi, he'd be tied to her in marriage. Not only that, being married to the person who made his family suffer was a fate worse than death. There has to be more to it than meets the eyes, I'm sure. It might be related to that girl or something else. Interestingly enough, even in his hallucination, his mother doesn't force him but asks him to think about it seriously, because he knows that Amma knows he responds better to reason than to coercion.
You can see Pallavi learning things slowly but surely, such as when she keeps her pepper spray with her, only to be disarmed by Raghav of course. Raghav is making the same mistake again.
He hears what his mother says but his execution is all messed up and his temper is out of control again! Why he needs to drag Pallavi to the temple is a mystery and again he hasn't bothered to understand her point of view on this. He probably thinks she planned it. I first thought he was going to take her on one of his famous adventurous rides to scare her or get the truth out of her, but she was moving so much that he had to hold her and drive at the same time. Either he's trying to see if it is all her plan or he really wants to get it over and done with so that Amma can come to his house ASAP. Again he isn't thinking about the consequences of his actions and doesn't even bother to inform his mother or invite anyone else.
I really wish they didn't show such things but I'm hoping Pallavi and he will have another verbal volley in that location, wherever that is. I have a feeling he will do as his mother (in his hallucination) advised him and take time to think about all this, weigh his options, and then we'll see. I highly doubt they'll have a marriage of convenience brokered by peaceful means.
PS I love it that we're getting so many outdoor scenes, and while I miss RR, this bungalow has a light and airy feeling to it so you can see their facial expression far more clearly.
