RaghVi : Care ka Tohfa

“Amma…Amma…”

“Kya hua Raghav itna kyun chilla rahe ho?

“Amma dekho na mere shirt ka button toota hai, I swear ye Reddy barabar laundry nahi karega toh I’ll fire him.”

“Raghav, kya fark padta hai as it is tum first 2 buttons toh band nahi karte.”

“Keerti, button hona chahiye main band karoon nahi karoon mera marzi.”

Pallavi was already standing in the corner with the sewing kit ready when Raghav came down.

Flash back.

Pallavi had neatly cut his button so that she would get her TV moment with her husband while stitching the button. She had started feeling things for him at first she felt weird as he was her enemy but as time went by she yearned to be close to him but he was maintaining social distance.

Present.

Amma looked around and saw Pallavi ready with the sewing kit,she understood everything.

“Raghav ab tumhara shadi ho gaya hai tumhara biwi ko bolo ye sab.”

Pallavi came forward to have her moment.

“It’s ok main change kar leta hai.”

Raghav left behind a disappointed Pallavi.

In the room,

“Amma bhi na typcal saas ban raha hai kya? Mera sab kaam Pallavi ko bolta hai. Main bhi chahta tha wo saree ka dukaan mera button lagaye wo amma aur keerti ka serial mein dekha waise (blushes) but wo saree ka dukaa nkal raat ko apna competition ke liye saree bana raha tha careless girl kitna baar needle chubha use finger swell ho gaya hai button lagata toh usko dard hota.”

In the evening,

“Saree ka dukaan ye lo.”

“Ye kya hai?”

“Chashma ka number check karo gift bag hai gift hoga na.”

“Gift? mere liye?”

“Nahi, wo bajuwala aunty jiske saath mera affair hai na uske liye laya tha lekin uska husband mere ko bhaga diya. Tumko de raha hai tumhaare liye hi hoga na. Pakdo jaldi”

“Gift de rahe ho ya patthar maar rahe ho?”

He shoves the gift bag in her hand and leaves to change.

“Ye kya hai?”

“Keerti, Chashme ka number check kar gift bag hai gift hoga na.”

Pallavi was excited to open the first gift from her husband of 3 months.

“Pallavi, yahan khologi?”

“Toh?”

“Amma bhi hai yaha?”

“Toh?”

“Bag ki size dekho, itna chhota bag hai lingerie hua toh?

“Mera naseeb itna bhi accha nahi hai.”

She opens the bag and pulls out a ring box.

“Ring? Kya baat hai kahin special ring toh nahi one of a kind just for my bhabhi.”

Pallavi opens the box.

“Mera beta ajeeb hai Pallavi. Sorry beta.”

“Ye kaisa tohfa hai? Ye kya hai?”

“Ye care hai, Keerti tum nahi samjhogii.”

Pallavi’s smile reached her eyes and she ran towards the bedroom.

“Amma, aapka beta hi nahi aapki bahu bhi ajeeb hai. Kitna khush thi gift dekhkar.”

In the bedroom,

“Ye kya hai?”

“Saree ka dukaan agar tumko pata nahi toh apna saree ka dukaan band kar do.”

“Tum mere liye ye kyun laaye?”

“Apna ungli dekho.”

“Meri care karte ho?”

“Mera dimaag apne jagah par hai vacation par nahi gaya. Wo amma ko tumhara banaya wo vada nahi wo bhajiya bahut pasand hai ungli swollen hai tum banayega nahi. Amma ko jab chahiye wo unko mile iss liye main laya.”

“Amma, ko bhajiya aur baki deep fried things khaana mana hai. Meri care karte ho issiliye laaye aisa bologe toh kya baal jhad jayenge?”

“Ae baal pe nahi jaaneka. Kuch khaane ko peene ko poocchega nahi husband thak kar aaya hai.”

At night when Pallavi was working on her saree she was smiling looking at and caressing her husband’s pyar /care ka tohfa, the antique gold needle thimble.
