the chief minister held a meeting with all opposition and party members regarding this, he wants a lockdown but majority are against it because there is no relief package in place... if a complete lockdown in maha takes place it’ll be devastating not only to the economy but to the livelihoods of people..
a lockdown last year was fine because the virus was new and they needed to build the infrastructure this time they need to have stricter curbs..
the peak of the pandemic in april (stage 2) is supposed to take place next week mid april according to top scientists.. the current surge like this past week is the outcome of the laxity of the previous few weeks... with the curfew and weekend lockdown in place it will still take a few more days for cases to start decreasing...
Rather than a complete lockdown they should work on awareness, shifting things that can be taken online like private companies and schools, postponing events, increasing vaccination awareness and drive...
