And when I watched the thalaivi trailer and music promos which everybody is unnecessarily praising her for, I couldn't help but find kangana a misfit to carry off the retro era actress portions especially during the dancing or lip syncing. It doesn't look natural or authentic. I remember seeing rani mukherjee's dreamum wakeupum (which is cringey and weird but that's meant to be the vibe anyways) which was meant to have this very old south indian dance vibe to it, and rani really nailed the dancing and expressions and lip syncing. You compare it to kangana's performance in chali chali, and you see how unnatural and unconvincing kangana appears in comparison to when rani carries off something similiar.
