Say a couple enters into a marriage with these conditions:

Guy - Its a deal where I marry you to help you become a doctor, so no expectation of a husband

- I am already committed to someone else and you cannot come in between us while we remain married.

Girl - Its a deal where I marry you to become a doctor, so no expectation of wife

- I will leave you in 5 yrs

- I will not interfere between you and your committed person

He said, I am committed to another person, it means he is free to pursue anything with the committed person and the girl cannot say anything. So it does feel like an open marriage from guy's side to me.

The same option wasn't however offered to the girl, but for the girl, she can be like if you are pursing a relationship with another person, so can I. So if she enters into a relationship with another person, the guy should be open to it too.

So IRL such a deal will be considered an open marriage.

If he said I loved someone and can never love another person again, but she is no longer involved in my life, then maybe I would have thought he is just being honest about his past. However he statement looked like his commitment to other person will continue in future.

Thank you for the honest answer, exactly the confirmation I was looking for. Also, I always love your views on other posts as well 😌💕

My reply to OP is based just on the T & C of the deal, without bringing in SAIRAT into equation.

Yaha sairat ki baat hi nhi , mujhe pata virat made huge mistake to tell truth of sai to us waqt ka sach tha or batana zaruri tha

Anyway decision was always in sai's hand to accept it or not . Sai kuch soche ke hi shaadi ki thi virat se.

I am not sure if you understood my point. I am talking about a random couple whom we don't know (not Sai and Virat), if they enter into such a deal marriage.

When we bring Sai and Virat into consideration while answering this question, it becomes complicated because we know the emotions behind it. Many of us have answered why Sai accepted that offer in your post. Plus we know Virat, he is a decent human being, who will never pursue a relationship with his SIL and thats not what he meant while talking to Sai.

Open marriage no. They just didn't want to get committed with each other. One promised not to love anyone and the other one wanted to just stay with him till she becomes a doctor. But both ended up having feelings for one another.

Was this the og “deal” of their marriage? The clause? Honest answers only please, keep aside sentiments.

Virat said that he has committed to someone else that her position will not be given to anyone in his life. He also said that he is only taking her responsibility and cannot be her husband and not to have any expectations from him.

Sai said that she can never be his wife too.

He then said that once she becomes a doctor, she can move out of his life, he will never bind her in this marriage.

Whether she can love or not wasn't covered in their talks because the thought never came to his mind I guess.

She also never wanted to get married and in the position she was in, right after her Dad's death, she obviously wouldn't have thought what if she falls in love with someone later when they are married.

Anyway, he said she can walk out of his life whenever she wants and he wouldn't bind her which probably means that once she walks out, she can live however she wants.

So, technically, yes, it looks like an open marriage after she walks out.

Anyway, both never thought what they were getting into.

This gives Sai leeway to find the “husband’s love” from anyone else since Virat will not be able to give it to her. I’m not talking about the current equation and Virat’s feelings etc because the deal is still intact and neither has breached the contract.

You have said he will have someone in his heart. So are you having doubts he thought he is going to have an affair with that someone or just continue to love her only by having her in his heart?
