Could be good if it fully explores all angles of the Mughal rule and it's effects on India, rather than being all whitewash-y...

Glorifying of the British Empire and trying to gloss over the wrongs they perpetrated would be seriously controversial in today's times even in Britain itself, and (very rightly!) unthinkable in India...

Why is trying the portray the Mughal empire as a positive thing and glossing over it's atrocities so normalised in India??

I'm glad we are finally waking up to how wrong that is...

BTW, Vikings don’t bitch about their atrocities being showcased in these dramas because they practically don’t exist in the modern day world! What are you even saying? 😂

History is a soap opera lol.. there is absolutely no way to know that all the things documented in books actually happened for real.

Talk about the Mughals and the topic immediately shifts to butchering of Hindus. All their influences on India's art, architecture, warfare, administration, food and fashion gets pushed to the side. Some of them like Akbar was pretty tolerant and broadminded for his era. At the same time Aurangzeb did not spare even his family from his cruelty. The Mughals like any other family had their bad apples. Jehangir aka Prince Salim was an opium addict and went to war against his father Akbar as well as his son Khusru. He blinded his own son. And Babur did not treat his Muslim rivals like the Lodis any more kindly either. Hindus or Muslims, family or friends they eliminated any who stood in their path. The early Mughal women like Babur's sister were very independent. They rode keeping pace with the army even to battles. But for all his ferocity Babur had to watch her being forcefully married by an enemy chieftain. It was years before she was liberated.

Well good or bad nothing changes the fact that they were invaders and they invaded the land for their own agenda/benefit. Now I understand that is how empires were formed but if we look at it today then you can't deny they did lot of damage to the people and culture they invaded. They didn't gift us their Art, food, architecture and culture, they brought it along with themselves and we as a society adopted to it Just like how we adopted English. It's just like people hate British empire for colonization. I mean you wouldn't like if your neighbor suddenly decides to invade your house and treat you like shit while he eats from your refrigerator.

It's not actually. It was a well made show and critically acclaimed too.

So its absolutely fine to make something that hurts the sentiments of millions of people? The truth is invaders entered my country, murdered, raped and looted my people. Why would I want to see the glorification of such barbarians?

If makers want to make shows on invaders then go ahead, but show the damn facts. Show us how the parda system became prevalent, cored conversations took place, Indian princesses were married off to invader kings in order to prevent anything from happening to the kingdoms.

And by all means, I hope they cover how India's most peaceful minority, the Parsi community and later the Iranis, had to flee from their home country, Greater Iran, and come to India when the invasions started.

Show the truth if they have to. You can call it snowflakes or whatever but for me they will always be barbarians and should be depicted that way. they were by no means great.

Makers can easily make web series of 4-5 episodes similar to "Roman Empire" or "Vikings" on Netflix on the Hindu dynasties that I stated.

Yes, I actually dare someone to make a show/movie showing the truth and the ENTIRE truth including all these things. The truth is they dare not . The only thing they are allowed to do is glorify and push everything else under the rug and pretend like it never happened! 😵

What is with the Mughal Obsession? They were the most boring people on earth.

I would rather see a movie or show made on Alexander vs Porus battle

If shows can be made on Vikings, Ottomans, Greek or Roman Empire , why can’t the same be done for Mughals ?

A show can be made if they show not just the positive but the negatives as well. Don't whitewash them.

On another note, if people are still carrying hate from something that happened so many years ago and are still offended about it, they really need to get a job lol. There are other things that should hurt people's feelings TODAY, like the condition of women in india.
