Virat is manipulating here or lying

I had never seen the first scene in GHKKPM.. want to understand what Virat meant in his conversation with Sai..He did chose to keep quite at the right questions..

Clearly he is telling lie. If he means to say that at present no such feeling was there from his side,he did not clarify at all. What Sai accused in straight words.that is the truth.

He is not manipulating. He is simply lying to get out of answering really uncomfortable questions.

He was too hurt to defend himself . He decided not to say anything when she had made up her mind about his feelings . His feelings has changed from the time they married and he thought his actions would be enough for her to know what he feels now . The thought that he loved Pakhi at one time created a not so good feeling because she was his brother’s wife

He is saying it’s a lie regarding the line of Sai “you hide your love for pakhi”

He wasn’t lying here he doesn’t love pakhi anymore (most probably never did bc if you love you can’t move on so easily like he has)

He didn't expect Sai to confront him so directly about feelings for Pakhi. So, he trying to get out of answering. He was acting like there wasn't any basis for this question when we all know about that janam janmantar vaada about his love. That's why I don't really his character at times.

Yes but why not answer Sai's questions on was Pakhi not the same girl who he said he was committed to and because of whom he would not be able to become a Pati to her?

I guess you can say that he was lying regarding the fact that he made vaada to Pakhi and they had fallen in love etc

But he didn't lie regarding his current feelings for Pakhi (non-existent) while Sai believes he suppresses his love for Pakkhi.

I think I saw Neil's SBS segment on this scene. I'll try to use the same words Neil used. He said that Virat has actually moved on , and he thinks Sai would have sensed it. So Sai throwing these questions at him is piercing his soul. I really don't understand this point per se. So opinions and explanations are welcome...

Any normal person in Sai's place will think virat loves pp. Virat told her that he was committed to someone else when they were getting married and not to have any expectations from him. She overheatd their conversation on day 1 in CN in balcony talking about the "deal" . Seeing pp-virat reactions during Sairat shaadi it was obvious to Sai what she had already guessed from before. Pp ofcourse on a daily basis shows that she cant get over virat. Virat has made a few slip up's- accusing Sai of sending pp away, saying that "pyaar-dosti" and allowing pp into their private space and get away too many times with talking rudely to Sai. Whatever Sai says to pp is in response. She didn't initiate this. So bottom line Sai is entirely right in every thing she has asked him about his relationship with pp. She questioned him very directly and he has avoided answering. He is infact trying to deny that there was ever any relationship between him and pp which is plain dishonest. First step to confrontation and solution is accepting that there was something. He is now in complete denial mode.

Virat doesn’t show often but deep down he believes Sai hates him and can never love him so every-time she reminds him of deal he thinks it’s no use explaining to her . Her indifference doesn’t make him admit his changed feelings . There is fear of refusal and fear of her reaction when he shared his raw feelings. Unless he gets an indication that she is interested in him , he won’t talk about his changed feelings .
