Just watching the riots in the show makes us so emotional and heartbroken, then just imagine what those people who actually experienced this went through.

In fact, my very own grandfather was from Lahore but he had to leave his city, his home, his everything behind just because he "didn't belong there". He witnessed his brother getting brutally killed right in front of him. He couldn't do anything. He lost most of his family. Who knows what might have happened to them.

He survived but did his heart really survive?

Till this day I remember the sadness behind his voice, whenever he used to tell us about the partition. The guilt of not being able to save his brother. The sadness of never being able to see his parents again. That painful smile.

I was too young to understand anything back then but now I understand every single word.

So many innocent souls suffered because of the partition but they stayed strong eventhough they were broken inside . Those wounds never healed.

They had dreamed of independence not of partition.

Thank you for sharing your real experience. The wounds have healed, the scars remain.

We cannot even imagine or bear half of the pain and trauma they suffered due to the horrific event.
