Have any of you ever forgotten about having read a certain book? And later realised that the story seems familiar? I hear that happening to people all the time, I wonder if any of you have reached that phase.

Not reached that stage. It happens a lot with my mom. I also think having a record on Goodreads also helps a lot in avoiding confusion and keeping track of what has been read.

I think getting confused with the titles of books happens when you read a lot of books of the same genre.

For instance, there are so many thriller novels with the word woman and wife in the title - The Woman in Cabin 10, The Woman in the Window, The Wife Upstairs, The Wife Between Us, etc. so one can never be sure if you have read the book or not. I’m guessing even romance novels have a few often used words that can cause confusion.

Goodreads says 98 but that doesn't include the numerous books and comics I've read during my childhood or the many YA novels by Enid Blyton that I had read during my teen years and can't remember the titles of (they all sound the same).

Wow that is more books than me...my GR shows like 80 books or something😆 and same that doesnt show books which I read in childhood like Jazqueline Wilson because I dont remember the titles or even the story, or books that I didnt complete like harry potter🤣
