It's good Veer didn't pick up the call. If he had picked up, he would have reached the spot when Rani was taken to the hospital .Then he won't be there to treat her.

Just like in the fire symbolism Rani Sa threw the pen in the store room. Rani Sa did some cheap work again ,so Veer 's trust on Rani would be broken. Rani ended up there to save the pen( here bauji) Now Veer will end up saving her .
