I don't want her to change her name. I don't see her doing that. Does taking up your Husband's name post Marriage seem like giving up a part if your identity? May be married ladies here can shed some light.

P.S. this is not to judge any opinion. It is actually a personal opinion and it shouldn't be taken so. This is just to get your POV on this subject as I was planning to write an OS on the issue between Shakhi.

Honestly, im married and i can say i have my reasons for wanting to take my hubby's last name but i couldnt since he uses singh... i told him i wish u used dhillon so i could change it... n drop mine.. but i am thinking of dropping my last name n keep Kaur as last instead of middle...😳cause mostly in my family man have singh n women have kaur..😊

I think it all depends on why u change it n why u dont...i know a few friends that kept their last name n took their husband's as well...😊

Personally I feel its not necessary to take your husband’s name after marriage. I haven’t taken yet. N my spouse is an understanding one.

Plus a lot of legal formalities is included so better I kept it intact. N all my in -laws agreed..

But show mein they will make her Mrs. Anokhi Bhalla Sabharwal.. itv ki khaasiyat hai..

If their marriage happens before she is settled in her career (which it likely will), it would be great if she continues to use just Anokhi Bhalla at least in her professional life just so that she can have her own identity in that space. And so people will judge only her credentials and not her name since that's also a common occurence of people accusing women of "using powerful men for success" when it's acutally on the basis of their hard worrk that they are succeeding.

You are a Sikh. My Bestie is a Kaur Ahuja and she too writes MK everywhere instead of MA like I would write SM. She says it's easier post Marriage so that's a practical thing to do. Frankly even my Sister has not changed her name but finally she has to do it now for filling taxes and it's less hassel. Passport still has her maiden name. It's actually due to ununiformity of Indian laws. Passport doesn't require name changes some place it requires. Bizzare.

Omg....guys can we cool down on marriage 🤣. Im really dreading any marriage track as of now.🤣 it will turn full saas bahu for TRPS

But otherwise , in the real world, I prefer not taking the surname cause it makes u have to get documents n all. Better is to keep ur orginal name there😆. But in serials, I expect her to turn Anokhi Bhalla Sabharwal 😆.

True although not a fan of hyphenating names. It's just Celeb culture. You don't have to share a last name to become part of a family. By that logic a Son in law can never become part of the Girl's family. Men should hyphenate too post Marriage 🤷‍♀️

True. Powerful last name gets you doors open Professionally. I have seen those examples so I would too prefer she continues as Anokhi Bhalla.

Yes i am😊

It is easier with Kaur n u dont have to worry about taking any names of anyone...😆

Aahh see i live in america its kind of different here like once i take my hubby last name i have to change it on everything n its free lol that is why i was planning to do it...😆cause if i want to change it on my own i have to pay a fee n its like a long process... but with marriage certificate is kind of easier...😳
