Very thought provoking chapter(s) Nisha.

“Arey nahi yaar, Varsha job wob nahi karti so she can have a kid”

“Amma ko Savi ne keh diya usko admission nahi mili”

The fact is whether be it Smrita or Anu/Akash, each person forms an opinion or judges a person and believes in it.

Like in the above, so Varsha is not working, so she can have a baby immediately. Aren't Mathur couple judging Varsha as she might not be career wise ambitious like Anu or her daughters? Maybe she has plans, maybe she wants to pursue some hobbies or something else. And really having a kid should be decided by the couple and not by the elders. Even if she has no plans, maybe she wants to relax for sometime.

I can understand if Dadi says this, but not Akash and Anu.

My point is if people are judging others, then they need to be open to others judging them too.

Regarding the driver case, having empathy is good. But I just want Viveka to know the full facts first before siding with the driver.

If the driver was really drunk, it is dangerous to let him roam free. What if he drinks and drives again, he could kill someone.

If driver's life has importance so does the life of the person who was almost killed by him.

Empathy is one aspect but justice is also equally important.

Spot on!!😃

Thank you for noticing that line, the Mathurs ARE judgemental They are proud of their high achieving daughters. They want a "special" outcome for the 4 of them. Koi doodh mein dhula nahi hai

If I recall correctly Varsha is a dentist or something, she might have quit for now?

I have to go back to check when I first mentioned her. If she is then Akash is full of crap, if she is not even then its no reason to be pregnant in month one

In subtle ways ALL OF THEM reveal their prejudices

Yes, all are measuring and judging people against the "standards" they have set in their minds, be it Mathurs (including Dadi) or Parashers or Tandons.

If Smrita always judges Viveka against the image of an ideal DIL she has in her mind, Mathurs judge Raanav against the ideal SIL they have in their mind.

Self righteousness and moral superiority. Those two thoughts stayed with me as I read this update.

What exactly is grown up and independent for Vi’s parents ? Other than quenching her personal insecurity what does Anu achieve by inquiring "if Raanav texts her when he travels”. Does she pause to think that the two are married and need to navigate this on their own and in their terms with its ups and downs.

Vi is newly married and Ra came back from travel (plus she was sleeping over at her parents for few days) but the two are complaining that Vi did not show up at Savi's.

Anu also wants to chart a 30 year old Vi life and make it efficient..have a baby while she waits to get admission in a Ph.d program. Do they think the couple should have a say in this ? They are nothing like Dadi and Smrita 😊

Regarding Vi and Ra conversation...for someone who is a researcher...she never tried to find why the driver was trying to avoid the pavement (should be on the road) and hit Satyen’s car?
Even with Ra not so gentle reminder (maybe drunk and Satyen’s is his dad) did not make her pause to question herself because Satyen is a rich man and the driver poor 😳 self righteousness and so called moral superiority runs in family

I remembered that snake venom thingy she had once cited to him😅 Giving her the benefit of doubt, it’s been a train wreck of a time for her. Buddhi bhrasht hogaya😆she even forgot I guess that they got married as an incentive for a seriously injured man to get better

Just reiterates the fact that we all operate from places of bias

Anubha is interesting. In spite of being successful, with a supportive husband and contrary to what she tells her daughters, she still wants the traditional culturally normative things, like validation from MIL for something like winning the “who will be grandparents first” contest!!! Forgetting two adults and their wishes/opinions in the process.

Bingo !😍 Guess Anu has not heard there is no free lunch in this world.

Also felt that Akash ridden by the Dadi misbehavior guilt does not correct/argue much with Anu. Note the parents gave Naina a clean chit in the breakup.

Plus why is Anu shameful that Vi did not get into Khargpur...all her other achievements means nothing 😏

They didn't want her going to Kharagpur in the first place, even actively tried to dissuade her!

Yup Akash is like between the devil and deep blue sea😆 and they are not helping with the clean chit to Naina. She saw something and went after it. Inder maybe an a-hole, but you can't blame him alone here, she is acting like a petulant child whose toy has been taken away.

Hey did not remember their objections to Vi going to Bengal. Naina less said the better. Maybe first setback in life and yes she is behaving like a petulant child 😊

I know right, they did not even want her to go to Kharagpur.

Mathur parents do not want to see Inder again and the feeling is mutual for the Dhamijas.

Anu/Akash have given the clean chit to Naina and naturally Parashers/Dhamijas have given the clean chit to Inder.
