Just a small guess after seeing Devi's insecurities today when she said Shaurya ke bina Devi ka koi wajood nahi, I feel just like they threaten Gayatri and Kanchan, Tej must have threatened Devi too that they will kick her out since she didn't have any child. And to make her place in the house she took advantage of Astha's situation and got Shaurya and made all that sacrifice drama so that no one doubts her.
