Looking at the mindset of Sabherwals, it's quite clear they would've preferred a boy.

But Devi and Tej have no children so even if it's a girl, they would have done the same. Difference would be how they both will be treated. Shaurya is the director or SIAC, the girl would be forced to stay at home and not work.
