Star Plus goes the ‘remake’ way!

MUMBAI: Star Plus is currently ruling the roost with most of its shows faring well on the rating charts. Rajan Shahi’s Anupamaa is bagging the top position from few weeks now followed by Gul Khan’s Imlie and Rajesh Ram Singh and Pradeep Kumar’s Ghum Hai Kisikey Pyaar Meiin.

Star Plus’ other shows like Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, Yeh Hai Chahatien, Saath Nibhana Saathiya season 2 are also managing to keep viewers engaged.

So, what is the reason behind the success of almost all the shows doing well?

Well, as per our observation the remake strategy is working in favour for the channel.

Star Plus’ most of the shows are remake of popular regionals dramas. TV’s top-rated show Anupamaa is a remake of Star Jalsha's Bengali series Sreemoyee. Sreemoyee was produced by Magic Moments, based on a story by Leena Gangopadhyay. While, Rajan Shahi, the maker of Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hain and Yeh Rishtey Hain Pyaar Ke is the showrunner for Anupamaa.

Another popular show Imlie is a remake of Star Jalsha's Bengali series Ishti Kutum. Produced by Gul Khan and Karishma Jain under 4 Lions Films, it stars Sumbul Touqeer Khan, Gashmeer Mahajani and Mayuri Deshmukh.

Ghum Hai Kisikey Pyaar Meiin is re-creation of Star Jalsha's Bengali series Kusum Dola. The show is produced by Cockcrow Entertainment and Shaika Films, it stars Ayesha Singh, Neil Bhatt in the lead roles.

Saath Nibhana Saathiya which returned with a sequel is mainly based on Star Jalsha's Bengali series Ke Apon Ke Por. It stars Sneha Jain and Harsh Nagar in the lead roles.

The newly launched show Shaurya Aur Anokhi Ki Kahani is a remake of Star Jalsha's Bengali series Mohor. Produced under DJ's a Creative Unit, it stars Debattama Saha and Karanvir Sharma in the lead roles.

Another newly launched show Pandya Store is a remake of Star Vijay's Tamil series Pandian Stores. Produced by Sphere Origins, it stars Shiny Doshi and Kinshuk Mahajan as leads.

The channel is gearing up to launch two news shows namely Mehndi Hai Rachne Wali and Aapki Nazron Ne Samja.

Mehndi Hai Rachne Wali is produced by Sandip Sickand and it a remake of Star Maa’s Telugu serial Gorintaku. The female role of Pallavi is played by the Shivangi Khedkar. While the male lead role is played by Sai Ketan Rao. While, Aapki Nazron Ne Samja is helmed by Full House Media and it Star Jalsha’s Bengali serial Sanjher Baati. The female lead role will be played by the Richa Rathore. While the male lead role will be played by Vijayendra Kumeria.

After Bollywood, looks like even TV viewers are enjoying watching remakes! What say?
