Chapter 42

“Maybe everybody in the whole damn world

is scared of each other.”

Mohan was unable to hear Riddhima's voice anymore though he could hear some mumbling voices of her and another man. He immediately turned to his team and said,

"Track her mobile location. I can hear some voices."

Mohan runs through his office corridors while he calls Vansh,

"Hello, Mr Rai Singhania"

He said once the call is picked

"Looks like you like me too much that you are calling me even after the case is closed, are you missing me that much Mr Panday?"

Vansh said with a teasing smile

"Haha funny not one I don't like you much to bother to connect two it's important. Riddhima is in danger"

Mohan says making Vansh stop at his place

"What are you saying, Mohan?"

asks Vansh anxiously alerting up while his hold on the phone tightens up.

"Listen carefully, I just got the news that Kailash has escaped from the jail. I called her up and tried to update her but suddenly lost her in the middle of the call. I told my team to trace and update me on her location, will share it with you soon. You also please try from your side to locate her"

says Mohan and cuts the call making Vansh rush in search of Riddhima

Vansh enters into the hall and calls out for Angre.

"What happened Boss?"

asks Angre worriedly approaching him

"Angre, search for Riddhima. Kailash chachu is out from jail and as per Mohan, he has Riddhima now"

says Vansh while Sejal comes and says,

"I saw her just 5 minutes ago. I don't think they might have left the premises."

"Thanks, Sejal,"

says Vansh and goes to see the CCTV footage and gets shocked to see Kailash was strangulating her in the backyard.

"Little girl,"

says Kailash while throttling Riddhima's neck and scaring her out of her wits.

“Please,"

Riddhima says panting in between taking deep breaths.

"Stop it."

Riddhima says choking while tears form in her eyes.

"I can feel your pain so vividly and it's making me feel so ecstatic- please,"

he says to her.

"Don't be sad. I will try to give you less painful death but I won't stop myself at all"

says Kailash by slapping her on the face and she falls.

"Don't be so happy if I die you won't remain unscathed too. You will suffer more than now."

Riddhima said with her chin held high and fierce eyes. Though she was scared she refused to show it to the man and give him that satisfaction.

Riddhima tries to get up.

"An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth. a burn for a burn. a life for a life. That's how all this got started. and that's how it's going to end, little one"

Kailash says and raises his hands to hit her again but gets pushed away by her.

While Riddhima pushes him away and he falls, she sees a locket hanging from his neck and gets shocked. Kailash sees where her eyes were staring at with shock depicting in them and smiles wickedly. He moves near Riddhima and asks in a low voice

“Why does anyone commit murder?'

She blinks while tears fall from her eyes yet she says slowly,

"How would I know?"

Kailash smiles and says,

"There are always mainly three reasons".

Kailash held up one finger and said,

"Love".

Another finger and said

"Revenge"

and finally, the third finger and said,

"Gain"

and

"Now tell me girl, why I'm killing you?"

asks Kailash by pushing her to the wall of the backyard of VR Mansion.

"You want to take revenge on me for sending you to jail,"

says Riddhima

"Brilliant Girl, you are!"

says Kailash while he strangles her and Riddhima's eyes were fixed only on the pendant in his chain dangling from his neck and she lost her consciousness while darkness surrounds her.

"Mohan, It's Vansh he is here in VR Mansion. Come here soon with your team"

says Vansh while running towards the backyard along with Angre while seeing him as that whole house runs behind him.

"Sure, I will be in another 10 minutes. Vansh, do what it takes to stop him. I will take care of it"

says Mohan before cutting the call and speeds his jeep along with his team.

Vansh was shocked to see Riddhima lying there unconscious yet Kailash was strangling her with a manic look in his eyes. He pushes Kailash away from her and hugs Riddhima and patting her cheeks calls out for her,

"Riddhima, wake up, wake up, are you listening to me? Riddhima"

he calls again in a worried voice

Sejal comes and takes Riddhima away from his arms and says,

"Babes, Riddhima what happened to you? Wake up, Please!"

Sejal calls in a fear laced voice and tears forming in her eyes she checks for Riddhima's pulse.

"Her pulse is very low, Vansh,"

she says.

Vansh looks at Kailash who was fallen on the ground and picking him up with a collar and Vansh slaps him and asks,

"How dare you to do this with her? It's me with whom you should have fought. Why her?"

“A genius at the wrong place could look like a fool. Now you are also behaving in a similar manner. Why do you think I hurt her, Vansh?"

asks Kailash with a raised eyebrows.

"Is this how I taught you the business? Didn't I said play with the weakness"

says Kailash and laugh like a lunatic earning another punch from Vansh making him fall on the ground while blood starts coming out from his mouth.

"She's not my weakness. She is my love my strength"

says Vansh while kicking Kailash in his stomach.

"Love and her? My dear Nephew, I know what kind of love it is. Don't you think I don't know why you married her? To take revenge on Kabir"

says Kailash shocking the family members.

“Nothing I accept about myself can be used against me to diminish me,"

says Vansh picking Kailash up and points a gun at him.

"Indeed I tried to use her. But she changed me over time. Now, I love her. Let's be honest here Chachu, you never loved anyone. So you don't know what Love is. Having your wounds kissed by someone who doesn't see them as disasters In your soul, but cracks to put their love into, Is the most calming thing In this World"

says Vansh while pulling the trigger and shooting in Kailash's leg so he doesn't move from the place.

"Ah,"

Kailash hissed in pain and smiles wickedly seeing Vansh.

"See, you are also showing the true colours of our blood. You are trying to kill me now"

says Kailash

While Vansh puts his leg on Kailash wound,

"Weakness with watchfulness will stand when strength with too much confidence fails. You underestimated me Chachu"

says Vansh ready to shoot him once again but paused hearing Mohan's voice with his furious eyes still glued at Kailash.

"Vansh, stop. We are here. My team is here"

says Mohan

"Not today Mohan. Do whatever you want with me later but this man would have to die first"

says Vansh with bloodshot eyes glaring at Kailash, Mohan takes the gun from his hands coming forward, and says his team to arrest Kailash

"Enough Vansh. Think about your family and your Riddhima. Right now she needs you and this time I'm giving you my words. Kailash won't escape from the jail and if it happens, the rest is up to you. I won't stop you then because it would be my failure"

says Mohan.

Listening to Riddhima's name Vansh turns towards her who was laying in the arms of Sejal and picks her up and takes her into the room and shouts at Aryan,

"Why the doctor is not here till now? What are you guys waiting for?"

"Relax Vansh. I have called the doctor. She would be here at any moment"

says Sejal reassuring him

While all were worried about Riddhima, the doctor enters the room and starts examining her up.

"Nothing to worry about but due to the pressure on her neck leading to lack of oxygen she had fainted. I am putting her on an oxygen mask for time being. Give her some time, she will wake up"

says the doctor after checking her pulse making Vansh sigh in relief.

"I will stay with her, the rest of you all can leave,"

says Vansh while Sejal cuts him in the middle,

"No, No. I am going to stay with her. You can go"

"Sejal, when I say something, I hate people disrespecting it. And in such crucial matters, I can't control myself. Remember this Sejal, never disrespect me. Understood?"

says Vansh while pointing his index finger at Sejal.

"Don't you dare to order me when it comes to her; She is my family before becoming your wife even that won't be for long. I'm not afraid of death; So I won't leave her along with you Mr Vansh Rai Singhania, do whatever you want."

says Sejal glaring at him furiously unabashed.

"Enough,"

says Aryan shocking everyone and bringing Vansh and Sejal out of their staredown; making Vansh look at him with a raised eyebrow and Sejal with a scowl playing on her face.

"Both of you love Riddhima bhabhi so both of you stay with her. Stop fighting with each other. Remember she needs both of you"

says Aryan while Sejal looks at him glowering at him and Vansh nods to his words.

"NO"

shouts Riddhima waking up making both Vansh and Sejal rush towards her and try to calm her down.

"Riddhima, calm down. It's me Vansh. Riddhima I'm your Vansh, calm down"

says Vansh while Riddhima pushes him away and then listening to her shouts rest of the family reaches to the room.

"Babes, listen to me, you need to calm down. Now, we are at the home and in your room"

says Sejal

"Sejal, everything is dark, Sejal. I saw. I know who it is"

says Riddhima making Sejal gasp and pale in worry.

"What she is speaking about, what darkness?"

asks Ishani while Sejal takes out her phone immediately and forgetting the whole VR clan was in front of her she dials the number of the man who can calm her down.

"Bro, it's Riddhima, she knows"

says Sejal making everyone look at her

"Keep the phone near to her,"

says Ridhay making Vansh curious and want to know who can have such an authoritative tone and at the same time can soothe his wife.

“Shhhh calm down now think about what autumn looks like. Even if you don't live in the Los Angeles dreamed of by Sejal schoolmates, you have surely seen postcards and photographs of the kind of autumn I mean. The one where trees go all red and blazing orange and gold and wood fires burn at night so everything smells of crisp branches. The world rolls about delightedly in a heap of cider and candy and apples and pumpkins and cold stars rush by through wispy, ragged clouds, past a moon like a bony knee. You have, no doubt, experienced a Halloween or two.

Autumn in Fairyland is all that, of course. You would never feel cheated by the colours of a Fairyland Forest or the morbidity of a Fairyland moon. And the Halloween masks! Oh, remember how they glitter, how they curl, how their beaks and jaws hook and barb!

And so I may tell you that the leaves began to turn red as Sejal and her friend rushed through the suddenly cold air on roaring high wheels, and you might not believe me. But Riddhu nothing you have ever seen could touch the crimson bleed of the trees in that place. No oak gnarled and orange with October is half as bright as the boughs that bent over Sejal’s head, dropping their hard, sweet acorns into her spinning spokes. But you must try as hard as you can and remember what I'm saying and feel it. Squeeze your eyes close, as tight as you can, and think of all your favourite autumns, crisp and perfect, all bound up together like a stack of cards. That is what it is like, the awful, wonderful brightness of Fairy colours. Try to smell the hard, pale wood sending up sharp, green smoke into the afternoon. To feel to the mellow, golden sun on your skin, more gentle and cosier and more golden than even the light of your favourite reading corner at the close of the day"

says Ridhay while listening to his words Riddhima tries to calm down herself surprising the family and Vansh the most

"Who is this person? Wait, did Sejal called him brother? Then is he the Suraj? How come he can have such an effect on my Riddhima?" thinks Vansh while Sejal cuts the call and calls her,

"Babes, please open your eyes and tell me what do you see"

"You,"

says Riddhima while Sejal hugs her tightly and smiles.

"Wait, when did you visit Fairyland, Sejal? Could paupers like you can afford to visit fairyland also?"

asks Ishani with a smirk

Controlling her anger Sejal looks at her and says,

"It's called soothing effect where one tries to speak about nature by adding things to it. You won't understand so better not to ask questions about it"

says Sejal sarcastically and clearing others doubts also about the Fairyland.

"But who was he? How come he can calm down Riddhima with his voice itself?"

asks Chanchal

"It's my brother Chachi. Since childhood whenever Riddhima had been afraid of anything, he used to talk to her which calms her nerves"

says Sejal making Riddhima drink some water

"Another secret man of her life,"

says Ishani making Sejal walk up to her and slap her making everyone go still in shock in the room

Sejal takes a step forward and stares at her with raging eyes.

“I'm afraid that we all make mistakes. One of the things that define our character is how we handle those mistakes. If we lie about having made a mistake, then it can't be corrected and it festers on. On the other hand, if we give up just because we made a mistake, even a bigger mistake that would be, none of us would get far in life."

Sejal said with a wave of controlled anger in her voice

"What do you want to say, Sejal, and how dare you to slap me?"

shouts Ishani cutting her off in between

"Well, the thing is Ishani, we do all mistakes but we do realize from our mistakes. While coming to you, you do a mistake and yet you never realize that mistake. And then you commit another one just like now and don't realize it again. So, you're this not giving up the attitude of not knowing that you did a mistake is getting on my nerves. Now, why I slapped you - it's for two reasons. One is for talking ill about my babes character and the second is for not realizing you committed a mistake and are committing another one"

says Sejal in one breath making Riddhima widen her eyes and raise her brows feeling proud while Aryan had a smirk playing on his face and Vansh just looked on at Sejal trying to understand 'who is she?'

"Now if you guys would leave the room, Riddhima can take some rest,"

says Sejal while Vansh says,

"It's my room, Sejal. I think you need to move out."

"Well, she is not well, so I'm not leaving her alone with you,"

says Sejal while Vansh sighs and says,

"I'm not going to harm her Sejal. Trust me on this. Tomorrow morning you will see her alive and well, Okay?"

in exasperation

"Well that's the problem I don't trust you"

Sejal said in a dead tone bluntly.

"Sejal"

Riddhima said to her

"Fine"

Sejal said sighing and agrees to leave her alone with him but not before giving her a tight hug and says to Riddhima while looking at Vansh,

"If this man tries to hurt you, your girl is just a room away,"

says Sejal making Vansh smirk amused.

"Just give me a moment Riddhima,"

says Vansh before leaving the room and calls Angre out along with him.

"Yes Boss, I'm already following up with Mohan about Kailash,"

says Angre

"Good, but Angre, once again check the details of Sejal. I don't know but I feel something is being missed. The man who spoke on phone, I don't think he works in a hospital. I can sense an Alpha authority from the voice and I can't be wrong"

says Vansh while Angre says,

"Okay Boss"

"Angre, also check on Kabir and Anupriya once. I want to know they are in the prison and not planning anything to come out of the jail"

says Vansh while Angre says,

'Sure, Boss. I will keep you posted"

and leaves the room while Vansh comes back.
