Yes even I was shocked generally in those days girls were not allowed to sit with men for lunch or dinner ..they had to eat after men have take their meals

Yes, all the women were expected to first setve the men and then eat later together. And especially if the girl is of a different religion like Vashma, she would not be allowed to eat or drink in this house. Same like Amrit could not eat or drink at Vashma's house.
