Part 5: Is This A Dream?
“Riddhima?” Vansh’s eyes were glued to her face, he couldn’t think straight anymore. All he could see was his wife.
“Riddhima!” He moved forward and quickly pulled her to him, picking her up when her legs buckled in her unconsciousness.
“Riddhima?”
“Babhi?”
The two women rushed towards her, not believing the sight of her. She was there, in the flesh.
Vansh didn’t move as he stared at her, not daring to blink fearing that she will disappear if he did.
“Sia, get some water. Vansh Beta, move her to the couch.” Dadi instructed shaking his arm. “Vansh?”
He quickly glanced up and then back at his wife before nodding and quickly moving towards the couch where he laid her down.
“What happened to her?” Omkar asked, looking at his friend dumbfounded. He had told him that she was over-exerting herself a lot these days. Did she finally give in and collapse?
Sia was back with a glass of water which she sprinkled on her Babhi’s face but except for the slight stirring, Riddhima didn’t regain her consciousness.
“Oh don’t worry yaar, it’s just the sedative I gave. She will be up in about three hours.” He said looking down at his watch.
The four people looked at him like he was crazy.
Vansh rose to his feet, ready to strangle him.
“How dare you?” He growled.
Hari looked up and visibly gulped. Uh oh, forget about Riddhu’s reaction, I had completely forgotten how her Hulk of a husband would react!
“Vansh Sir, I will talk to him!” Omkar intervened and turned to him. “Was this your stupid plan?”
“Yep, it was fool proof!” Hari literally patted himself on his back and pointed at unconscious Riddhima. “I made the restless soul get some rest and brought her back to her husband. Killed two birds with one stone.”
“Plan?” Sia stood up and faced Omkar. “You and this guy planned this?”
“You knew where she was?” Vansh asked in a dangerously low voice.
“Sir, I didn’t know till last day when I called Hari to invite him for the engagement.” Omkar explained. “And then I thought I will surprise you all.”
“Surprise?” Vansh was about to blow up at his brother-in-law-to-be but Sia jumped into her fiancé’s crying tears of happiness. “Thank you so much Om, this is the best gift I could have ever asked for.”
“Yes Beta, you have no idea how grateful we are to you for bringing our Riddhima back.” Dadi said, kissing her Bahu’s hand.
“That’s okay Dadi ji, I enjoy helping people!” Hari said before Omkar could respond. He looked over at his man-child of a friend and smacked him across the head.
“Owww!!” He rubbed his head glaring at him. “What was that for?”
“Did you really have to knock her out?”
“Did you have a better plan? I kept my end of the deal, she’s here. Now it’s your turn, Vansh Rai Singhania.” Hari turned to Vansh. “Win her back and keep her happy.”
Vansh wanted to put a bullet through this talkative doctor but he really was right. But he could have not knocked her out.
Vansh finally nodded, before turning to his wife and picking her up to move her to their bedroom.
Omkar turned to his friend again and smacked him across the head once again.
“Get used to the pain. Riddhima isn’t going to leave you when she wakes up.”

Riddhima started awake from her long nap. She looked around groggily. She was in her room.. Vansh’s room. But why was she there?
“Riddhima?” Vansh’s voice reached her ears. “You are awake!”
He was by her side within moments and caressing her hair lovingly.
What happened?
Was all that she bore in the last seven months a dream? A nightmare?
Or was this the dream?
“Vansh?” She called out, reaching for his cheek. He was there. But he was always there in her dreams. He always felt real.
But it didn’t matter, did it?
He was going to disappear any minute now. Her alarm would ring telling her it’s time to throw herself in the hectic work schedule so that she didn’t have time to remember him.
She was trying to avoid every single thought of him but she couldn’t control her dreams. She slept less and less and worn herself out more and more so that she will sleep exhausted and wouldn’t have any dreams.
But he always managed to make his appearance.
“Yes Riddhima, it’s me.” Vansh said softly. “It’s me. Your Vansh.”
Riddhima looked at him in a daze.
“But how? Why?”
“Is she up?” Hari poked his head in.
Vansh had half a thought to put a bullet through his head.
Riddhima looked between her ex-husband and bestfriend. And she remembered what had happened a few hours ago.
Her eyes welled with anger and frustration.
“Riddhima?” Vansh cupped her face.
“Don’t touch me!” She was quick to swat away his hands before getting up, swaying a bit from her fast motions but refusing to take help from her ex-husband.
“Hari, I can’t believe you did this to me.” She was seething in anger.
Hari gulped. He had no way out so he did the only thing that made sense. “Omkar made me do it!” He yelled as he ran out of the room.
Before Vansh could grab her, Riddhima had followed her best friend out, chasing him with the first thing she found, a vase.
Vansh was surprised to see her do that. Surely, this was not how Riddhima usually behaved, now was it? She was always so calm, composed and dealt with poise and grace, and now she was running after her colleague and friend, bare feet equipped with a vase?
What had happened in these seven months?
