How come an elder daughter in law has this much power!?

Seeing Bhavani's dictatorship makes me wonder about the power and authority of an elder daughter in law in a house. I know it's a joint family but still which elder DIL does all this?? Bossing over everyone asking the younger one to clean the entire house etc. etc. I haven't seen Bhavani do a single work at Chavan house till now. I don't think the entire property is on her name because it's a joint family. May be she just takes care of it being the eldest.

After Nagesh Chavan's death isn't Ninad Chavan the head of the family? I don't think there's anyone in the family from the senior most generation. Bhavani badi bahu kam Ashwini's sasu bai jyada lagti hai. 😆Now I'm interested to know about Nagesh, Mansi, Ninad & Shivani's mother. What do you think about her equation with all the bahus of the house? (Bhavani generation) Bhavani's behavior when her MIL was alive?? Tab bhi 'mast a mast' keh thi kya!? 😆

The entire dynamics of this show is utterly ridiculous and illogical. Bhavani acts like saas/ sautan of ashwini rather than her jethani. đŸ„±

If I have to guess, when Bhavani married Nagesh and moved in to Chavan Nivas, there was no MIL.

Maybe Ninad was in College/ Army and Omi was useless, so Nagesh ka chalta hoga and by his extension Bhavani.

It is possible that she was the only female in the house for few years before Omi and Ninad married. So she kind of laid the rules and maybe thats why Omi and Ninad are so much under her control.

I am so sure there is some back story of Bhavani and Ninad. Maybe due to some reason, they couldn't marry after Nagesh's death, Either Ninad married Ashwini taras khake (She might be sister of the guy who gave his life for Ninad when he was in Army) or they got Ashwini as a dummy wife from poor family and kept her under control just for varis and domestic help and continued with their affair in background.

She probably got Omi married to Sonali coz she might be from rich khandan (given that she even wears jewelry in her hair). She wants to constantly please Bhavani coz Omi is under Bhavani's thumb as well and probably that gets her away from all the house work.

Phew.. there can be no reason for this circus. Kuch toh major jamela hain

Ashwini's words to kaku and ninad during that one scene when virat was in GC indicated that kaku and ninad had a relationship of sorts or wanted one before ashwini came in the came picture.

This situation is not normal but not at all never seen kind of . I know a family where eldest bahu decides everything or in simple language controls everyone even though MIL is still alive ( here at least no MIL) .

I think swargiya nagesh chavans pension is also a reason. But even Bhavani cant rule over that chakram niwas without Ninaands and omis unwavering support.

So ninaands support is a major reason along with nagesh chavan's pension

that's how it is and used to be in joint families ... elder bahu is next in line saas and elder son next in line sasur ji ....

I know certain Joint family , 7 brothers and their families were living together and all powers were vested with the eldest brother and his wife ...

the rules of the family were weird to the extent all the kids of remaining 6 brothers called eldest tau ji as "papa " and eldest tai ji as "maa" and called their own parents as "chacha chachi" ... i used to get so confused back then when I was kidđŸ€Ș ... later they all separated and kids are calling their own parents as maa n papa lol , shukar hai , akhir khaar akal hai 😆
