I also think, that somewhere, V needs this blow. I obviously don't want the portrait to suffer irreparable damage, but V needs to take a step back and it might help him cope better. Shakshi doesn't live on in that portrait, she lives in their memories and her kids. Maybe this will make him see that.

V needs to look past his grief and see how his detachment has affected the family (and his life) and in order to do so he needs some time away from that portrait. He can return to it once he settles down a bit.
The portray burning is also a symbol of moving on for Vir...he can't live in this past only...Sakshi is a part of his life and now Pur is there ....Sakshi memories shouldn't stop Vir from living his present but on the contrary helps him to live his present with Pur.
Just like Pur can't take Sakshi place thus same it ll happen in future where Sakshi memories won't be able to take Pur place in Vir's life...both ladies ll hv their own special place in Vir' heart

Yeah there was a promo ...Suta had given written update...the kids are jumping off sofa or bed and portray got burnt due to candles
