For the first time in days, instead of Sai, my heart went out to Virat. He is so alone at the moment. Nobody is even willing to even listen to his compulsions. His loneliness was further emphasized when Ashwini said that Virat never opens up about his feelings to anyone. The poor guy is going through a horrible time. He had to see the person he "loves" marry his brother. His brother is missing, his Kamal Sir died, he had to get married to somebody he didn't love and the girl he did end up marrying holds him responsible for her father's death. His own guilt would be eating him up. But nobody cares about any of this and how he's feeling. His family, his big family, are just seeing how THEY have been wronged, how THEY were kept in the dark, how THEY didn't get a Maratha bahu.
I wonder if this is why Virat doesn't open up about his feelings- because nobody wants to know what he's feeling as long as he just continues being their obedient and beloved Shravan Kumar type of son.
Only Ashwini cares about Virat's feelings and I hope with time Sai will too. Life can get really hard for somebody like Virat who cares about everyone and listens to everyone but has no one to listen to and care about him.
Special mention to Neil Bhatt for wonderfully portraying a shattered and lonely Virat. The hurt is so visible in his eyes and as I said earlier, my heart went out to him.
So aptly said. There is a storm inside him. I hope they show us a typical Hindi serial back story where he has grown up absorbing all the negative vibes around him -- the only safe place being his Aai's embrace as it is even now. The relief that he felt when Ashwini told him 'aasman ke taaron jitni khushiyaan... Mujhe fakr hai tujh par.." It does take me back to my post on the expectations he carries being the custodian of the Chavan family legacy. He has been raised to take it forward and to comply with everything that Kaku saheb wants.
That's why, when he says today, 'I am sorry for hurting you but I am not ashamed because I am right in marrying Sai.', he stole my heart.
Yes, he's alone in this. I think the only one who now knows everything -- right from his ' deal ' with Sai to his conversation with a pestering Pakhi (PP) to the family's thoughts is Sai herself. Once he begins to confide in her when they settle down, he will find someone to come back to, always.
Neil's portrayal of Virat is so perfect that it needs no dialogues.
The last three episodes - the way he has been shown only observing every family member, his eyes have also spoke so loudly about his own thoughts about them. Be it the disgust for the expected crass from Bhavani, Omkar and Sonali or the shock for Ninad, the irritation with karishma and Mohit butting in, the warmth for Ashwini, Shivani and Devyani.
And most of all the uncertain look he had for Pakhi during this whole gruh pravesh part - I don't know if it was just me or did anyone else notice that he isn't looking at Pakhi with sad oh-we-are-separated look anymore. He thanked her for supporting her but his look at her double standard defense was a give away. Virat is sharp, no doubt. He's trying to read into her mind and seems to be very aware that she is not looking at moving on... I may be wrong, but I feel his blindfold of 'puppy love' will be gone soon.
