“Shhhhh shhhhhh” viveka hugged her

The teens pulled their air pods out of their ears and gawked

“Kya hua? Purse chori ho gaya ya fooon”

“Tumhe kya? Bachi hai koi na koi baat hogi” Dadu grumbled in the living room

“Ajee haan… MERI poti hai”

“To theek hai, karo uska jeena haram”

Akash had gone to pick up dinner from a restaurant

The house was turned upside down

Naina cried like she had lost everything

Akash returned with a steely look

Nobody ate much

The apartment took on a gloomy, bleak look

Usually hours before her departure there would be lots of shopping demands made, laughter, chatter, twins demanding to go so they could get a foamy cold coffee from Starbucks on the way back

None of that tonight

Dadi instantly relayed the news to her daughter and DIL

Naina was inconsolable

Diya blurted Viveka received a proposal from the Parashars

“You cant marry him you KNOW that right?” Naina screamed through a puffy face

“Uh..”

“Naina aapki baat alag hai” Akash warned

“I HATE THAT FAMILY I NEVER WANT TO SEE ANYONE EVER AGAIN PAPA”

Viveka looked devastated for half a second

“Stop hyperventilating!” Anu grit her teeth

“PROMISE VEEV… PROMISE…. Will you promise me?” Naina scowled

“I haven’t even met him… I don’t even know him well”

“I am BETTING you the brothers conspired… the cousins conspired… I AM TELLING YOU.”

“Naina… its all conjecture”

“NOOOO PAPA It is nottttt… I HATE THEM ALL, that snooty b---- of an aunt, she TOLD me last week she thought I was not listening but oh!! Yes… I DID(Naina smiled gleefully)

Anu and Akash cringed lowering their gaze

“I KNEW these girls were middle class… but have been completely blindsided by this one sinking her claws into my nephew” Naina began to sob uncontrollably

“Nainaaa I have to leave for the airport stop it now… I hate the hours before leaving on a business trip I don’t have a fear of flying but I cant leave you guys and go” Anubha teared up “ITNA roogi to kaise jaaoongi main?”

“DONT GO MAAAA PLEEZ” Naina was all over Anubha now

The twins thought it was too dramatic, rightfully so, and went back to their room

Naina sat on Viveka’s bed and milked it to the extreme

“NAINA!!” Akash yelled

“Nobody cares for meeeee”

“Chup karo abhi ke abhi”

Dadi did her share of gossiping and came out to Veev’s room

“Arey dekho bachi itna ro rahi hai”

“DIKH raha hai Amma” Akash was annoyed

“Kuch karo, aise jawan ladkiyon ko rona nahi chahiye, kal ko….”

“dadi pleeez” Viveka muttered and followed it up with a “Ufff”

“Tumhari didi ka aaj Rishta aaya hai aur tum ro rahi ho batao”

“Dadi who log bahut burey log hain…. AAP KAHO Veev ko kal nahi jaayegi milne

Viveka turned pink

She wondered why Papa even texted Naina so prematurely while she wasn’t even home yet

In his defence how was he to know she had been dumped

“Arey reyyyyy… burey log hain? Viveka ko to”

“Maa pleez” Anu ordered

“Aaja beta mere kamre mein aa ja” Dadi cooed

Aakash readied to go drop his wife off

He didn’t usually bring his girls

At night it wasn’t safe in Delhi

A Kamal Fa’s driver usually came to help out

Savita tried to pry as she called to wish Anu

Viveka stayed up almost the whole night in fear and anxiety

She could not shut her eyes until Anu’s plane took off at and finally slept at 5 AM

. Naina pounced on her when she was about to leave at 11 and emotionally blackmailed her and told her she was being utterly selfish

This was a side of Naina Viveka had never seen before

Egotistical, unkind and selfish

Viveka and her argued for a few minutes and Naina slammed Viveka’s bedroom door on her and locked it

IT WAS A SUNDAY Viveka was too shaken to realize, she showed up at the University on auto pilot at 1 for her class, all the offices, staff rooms, class rooms were locked, it was raining hard, the Narmada hostel canteen was slowly getting ready for lunch

Library was closed

She went to her phone and accused her library friend of not telling her it was a Sunday

She began to laugh

“hamey laga aapke paas chabi hogi” she laughed

“If they give me keys they know I will move in”

She texted Raanav at 3 ish when she couldn’t wait any longer, after researching for a couple hours in the open corridor on a bench on the side

“I forgot it was a Sunday, can we meet sooner or can we do it some other time”

Sooner” he said in one word

In 20 minutes he appeared near the pillar in a white sporty two door car

He stepped out with an umbrella and walked over to where she stood, shutting her eyes from the spray

Her saree was fully soaked

He looked lovely she thought

In army green pants and a orange cotton shirt with leaf pattern all over

Not a drop of moisture on his body

“We can just talk here… over there?” she waved to a bench lying along the corridor

The canteen is closed too sorry.. he closed after lunch” she mumbled “I cant buy you chai”

“Lets go some place dry Viveka” he muttered steering her

When she was seated he, turned on the heat a bit and drove

“Naina and Inder and broke up” she said overcome with grief

“I heard” he said flatly

Just when things move ahead for Viveka, Inder and Naina break up. Inder was so hot and heavy, so what happened so suddenly?

Naina is accusing Viveka of being selfish but she is the one doing that. She had a breakup so Viveka has to give up the relationship too.

Gosh...is Naina the Lydia of the story?

Love to see how Raanav can handle this new wrinkle in their relationship😀

Never judged Naina..but today she sounded like a selfish B...😠itna gussa aa Raha hain na!!!!!!!

Their conversation was much more than I'd hoped for.. it's fun to see her so affected by him!

I absolutely loved the way he teases her, messes with her and then chants her name in every sentence... uffff! ❤️

The twins thought it was too dramatic

Even the twins thought Naina was being too dramatic... need I say more?

Naina believes her sister doesn't care much for Inder's cousin. She knows that Viveka is in a relationship with Abhishek. Is that why she's so callous about her sister's feelings regarding the proposal?

She's impulsive and emotional.. as of now, even Viveka is not involved too deep with Raanav. But as the couple progresses, I hope she can be a little sensible and kind towards them! More so considering the fact that Veev has been the only support she and Inder had from either families..

Raanav saying that he heard about the break up gives me an idea that he had nothing to do with it. Looks like there's more opposition to them apart from the respective mothers!! Waiting to see how he navigates this stretch..

Again there's a Tamil proverb " vaithal sigai siraithal mottai colloquially more vecha kudumi saraitha mottai which when translated is either a Tuft of hair or a Completely shaven head which basically means living between extremes.

That's Naina's state Of flip flop between two extremes.... all or nothing. I mean it's not even an oscillation .

So from Double dating to 'no I don't want you to ever meet any member from that family ' is a total swing. No middle ground or path here sadly.

Now there's a cloud hanging over the chai/ dinner date they have embarked on. This evening is going to be pretty interesting and I'm looking fwd to it
