Dulhan episode 7
Amal is sitting on the steps to the roof and is thinking back on her wedding night and thinking again about how she was deceived and that Mikaal is her dads murderer and how she can never forgive him, when she sees a man secretly meeting with Noshaba on the roof and goes to stop it. Noshaba is angry at this but Amal tells her stepmother and this makes Noshaba even more cross.
Mikaal is standing by his sports car stressed and wondering why Zubi lied in front of his family and thinks all girls are untrustworthy and as his friend, how can she do such a wrong to him? suddenly he hears a voice in the wind saying what you did to me wasn’t right also Mikaal... he looks around but there’s no one there, it’s his guilty conscience speaking.
Mikaal goes home where he is faced by his tearful mother who is upset at the whole thing. She says ‘if you’ve made a promise then why did you be foolish enough to make that girl testify in front of her brother and everyone!’ She’s so embarrassed that she felt so unwelcome by her brother for the first time and is still feeling humiliated by it all. Mikaal tells her not to worry and that he’ll fix everything and says the girl is lying and that he never made any type of promise that he’d marry her.
Anni is in bed, sad and crying about what happened. She sees some clothes and has a flashback where Mikaal is helping her shop for clothes telling her how this colour suits her well and remembers how happy she was with him.
Her mother sees her crying and she says the decision should be hers, to spend her life with him or not. Her mother sits down and tells Anni that your father might not agree to this marriage but what does she want? Her mother says she wants Anni to be confident in her decision and says I am with you whatever your decision is.
Shahmeer comes in and overhears and is angry at his mother and tells his sister that even after getting to know about Mikaal why are you still considering him? He says it’s pretty clear that he is a cheater and he says he’s probably been with many other girls, how can his sister even think of marrying him?
Mikaal finds Zubi and wants her to go to his mum right now and tell the truth. He’s so angry at her and tells her how humiliated his mother is because of her lies. He can never forgive somebody who hurt his mother like that.
Noshaba sees Amal in the bedroom and starts to threaten her, as she’s still cross as she can’t meet her boyfriend anymore. She says from now on you’re not my sister and we are enemies and the way you humiliated me in front of my mother I will take revenge from you but her mother walks in and rebukes Noshaba who leaves angrily.
Then her stepmother asks Amal why haven’t you gone to work yet and she replies she’s got an interview at a new boutique today and makes an excuse that the other one was too far away that’s why she’s left that place, but the stepmother is only interested in whether she will get a better salary.
Mikaal in the meantime is taking Zubi so she can apologise to his mother, she admits to him that she only said it to get revenge on Anni for the other day. He grabs her by the arm and tells her to explain everything to his mother.
Amal nervously turns up at the boutique and (obviously) it turns out to be Mikaal‘s mothers business. Amal enters the room for the interview and just as she begins, Mikaal rushes in dragging Zubi by the arm.
Amal is in shock as she sees him. They are suddenly face to face and look at each other - she looks at him in horror and notices him holding Zubi’s hand, and he looks at her in surprise. As he stares at her, his face softens and in a sudden flashback, he sees her sitting shyly, beautifully adorned as his bride. He remembers this and looks at her with shame, but Amal can’t take it and runs out.
When the mother calls her employee to let Amal back, she replies saying she left and so the mother is thinking what kind of girl comes for an interview and walks out so suddenly?
Amal goes to see her friend and is full of anxiety and tells her she can’t work in that place and begs her to find another job. Her friend says it’s not easy getting jobs what’s the problem with that job there? Amal is all upset and says she saw Mikaal at the boutique with some girl!
Her friend says not to worry, he probably took the girl there for shopping. Amal thinks he must be showing yet another girl her dreams (sarcastically). She recalls Mikaal went straight into that madams room not like a customer but as though he might have known her for a long time. Her friend says he probably went there with that girl to buy her a suit, and she might never see him there again and consoles her saying it just happened once so it might just be a coincidence and tells her to think about it, as it’s hard to get work.
Her friend gets a phone call from the other boutique and so she makes an excuse saying Amal wasn’t feeling well so she had to leave but she’ll come again tomorrow for the interview. Her friend tries to help Amal’s worries by saying there are other girls worse off than her. Amal then asks her friend ‘do you know any other girl who has been deceived in such a way in the name of love? ..so much deception that she lost her father because of it? A girl who’s husband handed her to someone else on the first night of marriage, just to win a car? Have you ever seen a bride that doesn’t even know if her marriage was true or is it just a fraud?’ And she bursts into tears.
Mikaal is alone on the beach and he gets a flashback of when he saw Amal at the boutique. He slides down against his sports car and looks tormented by his thoughts and actions. He thinks ‘why do I always see her? I always end up in front of her... how much she must have needed this job and now she won’t even do this job because of me!’ He feels so guilty and he turns and looks with disgust at the sports car that he won. He thinks ‘I destroyed her, how could I do something like this? no one even treats an animal like this, and I threw her in front of a wolf’ (Shahmeer). He tells himself ‘Mikaal, you did something so wrong there can’t be anything worse.’
Amal tells her friend that she’ll go back again to the new place, her friend did so much for her she doesn’t want her to stress about finding another job for her or their trust to be broken, and they have a lovely friendship moment.
Mikaal arrives home late and looking very depressed. His mother notices that he’s been acting strange for a few days and asks what’s bothering him. She says she’s here for him and he can tell her anything, she tries to cheer him up. He knows she loves him, and he looks at her and smiles weakly and says I’m hungry so she says she'll get him some food.
Anni’s mother comes to see her and tells her that her father is going to tell everyone that the engagement is broken. She says he wants to tell everyone that they broke off the engagement first, so that in the eyes of society they have the better reputation. Her mother says Mikaal is untrustworthy if he told someone else he wanted to marry her, but Anni says he said it was a lie. She still wants to pursue him so her mother says go and talk to him.
Shahmeer is telling a friend that he nearly got Amal but Mikaal got in the way. His friend tells him to take his sports car back then! But Shahmeer doesn’t want it, he wants Amal. His evil friend advises him to encourage Mikaal marrying Anni then he will be out of the way...
Anni turns up at Mikaals bedroom and wakes him up. He’s surprised to see her, and thinks that she believes him about Zubi lying. She tells him ‘you’re mine, and it’s not like you’ve married anyone!’ She laughs, but he looks at her with a worried expression. She asks what’s wrong? He says I haven’t promised anything to anyone. She tells him she can put up with a lot but will not stand for untrustworthiness or insult.
She looks at him seriously and says if he ever did this to her, that she will destroy him.
