Heroine was quite bold before their breakup. Remember she always kissed him without being asked, she even did the Ashiqui 2 under the jacket scene!
Post breakup she decided to act coy thinking if she gave in too much he would take her for granted 😆

I think he never considered himself to fall in love or get tied up to family life...

His reaction was confusing even to himself as her face came into his mind ...but his tension was about her family who was insulted by his mom and he perfectly knew they won't agree to the rishtha swap too..

In next epi we see Kunal leaving and Abir leaving too..but trying to " rent " a phone in case 😳uski bhi bhaagya khul jaaye...😆

Namans interference here too and Abir's quick thinking to salvage the situation led the mahs to accept Kunal despite his mom's tantrums..

But he was heartbroken, remember he was sitting sadly near the stairs, holding the earring in his hand?

In his room also he was looking depressed, he knew his budding relationship with Mishti had come to a full stop with Meenu’s Rishta swap as now he’s from the “bad” family and Mishti wouldn’t want anything to do with him!
He liked Mishti a lot and was interested in pursuing her though not so sure of what his feelings meant. He was always a confused guy, so early on he said that earring girl was Kunal’s Bhabhi yet he wasn’t pukka sure he loved Mishti until the fire incident.
