I have watched DMG which is why I can say she is A bad actress
I kinda wish Anita Hassanandani had more of a chance. I never fully followed that show she did with the cute kid but I thought she was pretty decent and deserved more than that one lead in some Ekta movie. I remember her sarees were pretty iconic. The way she used to drape them was pretty scandalous at the time but she looked gorge!
This is never going to change in the industry. Never. They are quite shameless about this.Even with the whole SSR scenario that happened and with the nepotism debate being ignited, they would shamelessly stick to their old ways. I don't mind them giving their 'own people' a chance. But them being so grossly prejudiced against talent from other mediums is quite sick..
So much talent in the TV industry.. yet.
The only way they will change is if we stop paying to watch new nepo kids getting launched unless there are outsiders being launched alongside them... but people bash us āboycottersā so šš¤·š½āāļø...
Anyway yeah the issue is not just launching or casting one or two nepos... itās the fact that certain makers barely EVER launch any outsiders (and any that they do launch usually come from filthy rich families like Tara)...
And the discrimination really shows up when you think about how many plum chances they keep giving to nepos who are quite clearly unpopular (see Arjun Kapoor, Uday Chopra, many more) but donāt like casting much more popular outsiders, except in the most dull, nonsensical, sexual, or controversial of their films that no nepo kid would want... š
If the nepo obsession is all about āmoney senseā as some claim then why on Earth were flops like Arjun Kapoor, Tushaar Kapoor, even Abishek in his early days getting film after film?? How could they possibly be seen as ābankableā after so many flops and little to no fan following from the public??
Same applies to the more recent examples Ananya and Jahnvi... neither of their first films were hits, and you will see twice the negative stuff about them about them written by public on social media than positive stuff... how are they bankable? Why do they keep getting chance after chance??
The fact is, bankability is why people would cast Salman, Shahrukh Akshay, Amir (actual superstars with lots of genuine fan following)... Even people like Disha Patani can be seen as bankable because though she is no great actress, a lot of guys are genuinely obsessed with her...
But the Kjo kids?
Classism and probably bribing from the nepo parents is why that lot get casted again and again š¤·š½āāļø
Anita starred in a few thriller/horror genre films that were directed by Ekta. I guess 'Kuch toh hai', 'Krishna Cottage', 'Koi aap sa'. The songs from some of them were quite famous back in the days. The only thing is, her costar was Thushar Kapoor in two of them and Sohail Khan in one. Since Thushar and Sohail weren't hailed as the best of actors, the films automatically weren't taken that seriously and Anita was not either. Had she starred with a better actor, another director or producer may have considered her as well. Co-stars make a big difference I guess. Someone in this topic earlier was mentioning how Shilpa Anand's only USP was her chemistry with Karan Singh Grover for example.
Agreed. Gosh I remember loving the songs from Koi Aap Sa. She was one of Ektaās favs, hence she even got those handful of opportunities, nahi toh woh bhi kaha milta hai aaj kal? Nepotism everywhere, hence why a Tushar Kapoor was ever the male lead, but to be fair to Ekta, she was just about establishing herself in the movie industry at that time.
I havenāt seen any Hindi TV in God knows how many years because they drag the shows out so bad and I canāt deal with the level of dramatics, but I feel for the talented ones. Maybe off topic but I remember this Hina Khan interview posted by diet sabya and man this is pretty sad how far the discrimination against these girls go.
Ufff Ananya and Jhanvi. Just those names just drive me up a wall.𤢠Those girls are ghor attyachar. I preferred actors like Aditi Rao Hydari, Kiara Advani to those two nepo kids. I've boycotted BW films way way back. The standards and the talent quality deteriorated since 2010 I believe. I get annoyed even with Ranbir and Alia and their PDA. I find them very average TBH and find Alia annoying.
I was watching an old film of Ayesha Takia, Abhay Deol i.e Socha Na Tha. That was something. Beautiful story, the actors are normal and relatable. No skin show and glam doll look, not nepotism heavy introductions like in KJO's films. Even if they wanted Nepo kids to be there, the content innovation is dead now. Shahid and Kareena in Jab We Met, nailed it because of the story, acting and Imitiaz's direction. Phew, but that was a different era. Nepotism heavy films now have ruined the industry.
OMG I really liked Socha Na Tha too! Abhay and Ayesha were too good, complemented each other so well š
I agree completely that both Ranbir and Alia are overrated as actors (though Ranbir is much better than Alia for sure and strangely not as obsessively hyped either), and their relationship looks fake af... itās obvious kjo set them up lol... and despite the forced pda (when they know paps will be there š), when caught unawares Ranbir always looks bored/unhappy with her š
And yeah Aditi and Kiara are both good, and I think itās not even just you and me but the vast majority of people would rather watch either of those two than Ananya or Jahnvi... but does Kjo care what we want to watch? Or is he reassured of recovering his budget through money given by nepo parents and is therefor cool with his films flopping š¤...
The only way to solve this problem is through mass boycotting of nepo films, and actually watching films of more worthy outsiders... enough people should do it enough times for it to make a difference...
If the industry can (for whatever reason) favour āinsidersā, why canāt we, the public favour outsiders?
Out of these two I don't really know as they don't seem very strong actresses but TV does have plethora of great talent. There are so many tv actresses that are much more talented than likes of Sara Jhanvi and Ananaya. I still don't understand why Shweta Tiwari never got a chance to be Bollywood actress. Not only is she breathtaking but is a tremendous actress as well. Even Jennifer Winget is super talented. Imagine how well she can do with good scripts and direction.
I agree. Shweta Tiwari is such a brilliant actress and is definitely super pretty too. She definitely deserve chances in bollywood. Along with her, Sakshi Tanwar deserved it too. She is such a tremendous actress.

Jennifer is better actress than Shilpa.. Sukriti was I guess more or less same as Shilpa in DMG minus the chemistry with KSG which made her look ever more lackluster..
